Hey guys I am really anxious. I applied to USD (University of San Diego) and im going to apply to NYU and ASU. I am currently a freshmen at CSU, Chico. I got a 3.2 first semester of college with A- with english and A in math. I am a business pre major, and my high school gpa was 3.1ish with SAT of about 1500. My EC were exxceptional, I had 2 different internships, was an educational aid (tutor), volunteered for the biggest student run sustainability conference in the nation, captain of football and basketball team for 2 years, and played volleyball in high school and currently on the Chico Team. On midterm report I got a A-,B+,A,A,A. I took 15 credits last semester and taking 17 this one. I got a really good letter of rec and wrote a very good essay. I am going to apply soon to NYU and ASU (within next 2 weeks). I just want to know my chances I need all insight you guys can give me pleaseeee!!!! THANKS

P.S. I am a dual citizen from Turkey. I also am from San Diego and live there.

Do you need FA? If not, then probably in at NYU if not applying to Stern.

what do you mean if not applying to stern?

means you’re competitive enough for other nyu schools like CAS, but not nyu stern (business school)

so your saying only way i get into NYU is if i dont major in business? but since im transfering after one year cant i say im transfering as undeclared and then declare after a year there? or do i have to declare on the app?

No, all transfers must declare their majors. Freshmen applicants don’t have to. Secondly, you don’t apply to NYU itself. You apply for a school within NYU. There are many schools in NYU such as Stern, Tisch, College of Arts and Science, Steinhardt, etc. Stern is the business school. This is probably what you want to apply for since you’re a pre business major right now. You have some nice extra curriculars, but I think your gpa and SAT are still too low to give you a decent chance. Many Stern transfers have 3.8+ gpa and 2100+ SAT. Some make it in with 3.7 and slightly lower SAT because their fantastic extra currics make up for the stats. I don’t know how your overall gpa will turn out, but if you decide to apply for other NYU schools, you’d still need at least 3.7 to be competitive and have a decent shot. Go on their website to find out more about transfers’ profile.

alright thanks a lot but my first choice is USD. what do you think about that and my chances? and ASU also?
