I'm a freshman at the George Washington University looking to transfer. My current major is IR, but I'm thinking about Economics as well. How would my chances be to theses schools with my stats.
First Semester GPA: 3.80 (17 credits)
High School: 4.0 (Small rural high school though, APs not offered)
SAT: CR 680 Math 650 Writing 670
The school I'm thinking about are:
UChicago
Tufts
Georgetown
Columbia
Cornell
JHU
UPenn
Yale
I know some of these are a hugh reach. I think I only want to apply to about 4 or 5 which should I choose, especially considering IR or Econ? Should I think about retaking the SATs - it's been over a year since I last took them? Thanks.

try the ACT. if you get higher test scores these schools won't be as tough. even so, you have a good shot at all of them. yale is 4% acceptance rate though.

I'd say Yale and Penn are long shots.Bring up those scores. What are your ECs?

Because I went to a small high school I was pretty much involved in everything. I was class president my freshman and sophomore years, Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper my junior year and I was an exchange student in Germany my senior year. I was also in Knowledge Bowl, Debate, FBLA, and I ran cross country since 7th grade. In college I just joined Delta Phi Epsilon, a professional foriegn service fraternity and was line captain. I joined the College Republicans and the International Affairs Society, but haven't really done anything with them.

i think college ECs are what they want on your application, but i'm not sure.

Hi, if anyone has any more advice that would help a lot, thanks.
