Transfer Choices Spring/Fall 2019

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend.

I am in a bit of a personal dilemma here. I am applying to Cornell for the Spring 2019 term and get my decision in November, while this is happening I am also applying to Berkeley for the Fall 2019 term as well. I wont get my decision for Berkeley till March-May 2019. Now here is my conflict… If I am accepted into Cornell should I just go? or should I wait it out and see if I get into Berkeley? I personally rather go to Berkeley, but I feel like it is naive to basically toss out an admissions offer from Cornell gambling it on Cal.

What do you guys think? Hopefully, this made sense.

If it helps I am applying as a Philosophy major in hopes to double major in Mathematics as well, and I am a California resident.

Also, my plan is to go to graduate school so does my undergrad program prestige actually matter?

Thank you, guys!

Well, you can’t wait for Cal considering you’d already be at Cornell. I’m confused as to what you’re proposing. By the time you get your decision from Cal you would have already hypothetically been at Cornell for half a semester/a whole semester. Most transfer applications for fall are due in the Spring. Just apply to Cornell and if you don’t get in then you’ll still have plenty of time to apply to Cal.

I’m just confused as to how you think you’d be able to apply for Spring admission, get in, then wait to decide until after that Spring semester is already over.

Why not just apply for fall 2019 at Cornell as well?
