Is your name on the UNC directory? The link is http://dir.unc.edu/dir/search/Pid.do

No it's not. Is yours? What department did you search yourself under?

(We're getting way too carried away with this.)

Son has a pid but not on UNC directory

haha yeah i think were getting way too into this. but i am in the directory

Probably but I hope it means were in. My name pulled up when I searched, you shouldn't have to type a specific department. Anyways good luck to all of you!!

how does your name show up...my name doesnt..

You should just type your name in and if you are the only result your name will appear at the top of the page.

Weird, now son's name comes up on directory--it didn't a couple hours ago.

yup, i just checked and my name is now in the database

Mine's still not. Damnit. My app was updated on March 2nd too.

BigE, I doubt they have made a decision on yours yet because the deadline was March 1st. You should have no problem getting in looking at your stats. Just compare your grades to people who got in last year as a transfer student and you will see that you are well above most of them. Like I said don't take this information very serious because we are still weeks away from hearing the offical decision.

Alright im applying as a sophomore transfer as well

Case Western Reserve University
GPA 3.4 (took all sophomore and junior level courses)
HS GPA: 3.9
ACT Composite: 33
2005 Microsoft Scholar, 2006 Apple Scholar
Lots of community service, Key Club president and North and South Carolina Webmaster

I also checked into the PID thing, my friend got waitlisted as a freshmen and he had a PID as well so I dont think it really means much but not sure.

my app was updated march 6th...have a pid...not in the directory

Are you sure that you guys are finding your name in the directory and not someone who has the same name? It wouldn't make much sense to put someone in the directory if they are not going to attend plus I have yet to find Freshmen I know in this directory either...

I think it is the "right" name as son has a somewhat unique combination of first/middle names. Also there is no information except name--other students that I know who attend there have their email, major, residence, year, etc. listed.

Could someone who is in the directory call and ask what it means? Or maybe someone could ask during the chat session on the 27th. I would but I have class that day until 8.

I am saying that they do not even have high schoolers that I know who got in this year in that directory, even though they accepted so what purpose would it serve to add transfer students who may or may not attend next year?

Transfer students might be handled differently. I see no point in it either but it is clear that there is no one else with the exact same name as me. It doesn't make sense and even if it did mean that you were in, I know the admissions office would never tell you about your acceptance. I will try to ask during the chat session tomorrow if I have time and report back here with what I learn.

i have a pid and directory, but i dont think this means anything if someone who was waitlisted had one as well

Someone who was waitlisted had a pid. They were not in the directory though. From what it looks like, I'd guess that if you're in the directory, you're in, but even if you're not, it probably doesn't mean you're rejected... yet.
