I am asking this for UNC Chapel Hill but this question should still be applicable for NC State(I hope)

Will being in state help admissions for either NC State or UNC Chapel Hill?

Will being in state help admissions for either NC State or UNC Chapel Hill?

Nope. Not for UNC-CH, at least.

Do you have any source or personal experience for this information?

I know in California they often give CC and other California institutions students first priority.
In addition having moved recently from Georgia, in state transfers often get priority also.
Considering NC has some of the strictest ISS rules, I’m quiet surprised if NC doesn’t give some type of priority to ISS.

“…we give California community college students first priority over other transfer applicants, we also accept those from four-year institutions.” http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/index.html

Let me re clarify, admissions certainly may not be “easier” for in state students, but do in state students possibly get higher priority?

The following 2010 data for transfer stats was posted on another thread.

I know that doesn’t answer your question. The following link will give you information about how many students from CC are transferring to UNC-CH or any UNC system school. This site has a lot of data but it can take a while to find what you need.

The 18% limitation of OOS is ONLY for first year admission. Transfers are one big pool at UNC-CH.

@NewYark You are certainly right the 18% OOS is only first year admissions.

Do you have any advice that they equally all transfer applicants?

I’m not quite sure what you are asking … but, if you are asking if OOS and ISS transfer applicants are evaluated as a common pool of applicants. That is my understanding.

@NewYark Yes I believe that answers my question. Sorry my phone’s auto correct really made it confusing. I should have checked it more clearly.

It should have said: Do you have any evidence that they treat all transfer applicants equally?
