Transfer from UCSB to UCB or UCLA?

Hello,
I am currently a first year Chemistry major at UCSB and am seeking to transfer for personal reasons. I finished my first quarter at UCSB with a 2.7 GPA. I was wondering how hard it would be to transfer to UCLA or UCB from a community college as a Chemistry major. Also, how would the 2.7 I received at UCSB impact my chances of transferring? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The 2.7 is certainly problematic for UCB. I don’t know much about UC to UC transfers and how they’re viewed different than CCC applicants, and I also don’t know the average GPA for transfers, but I would have to guess that it’s significantly higher than 2.7.

Are you looking to go back to a CCC and then transfer from there?

Regardless, that GPA needs to come way up for UCB and probably the same for UCLA.

Why you want to go to schools which are even more competitive than the one you struggled to earn 2.7 ?

(you will have a hell of time in LA/B if not prepared!)

Here is a link to the Transfer GPA’s for UCLA for 2015. Expect UCB’s Transfer GPA’s to be even higher.

I’m struggling with some mental issues, which is why I’m withdrawing to begin with and why I did so poorly my first quarter. I’m confident I can do better though with the proper treatment and the right environment.
