K so im a freshman at BOston University and these are my stats:
Sat1: 2020 (650cr 680ma 700w)
Sat2: i forget both in 700s though
HS GPA: 3.3 (7APs)
Freshman year GPA: gonna be above 3.7 (or ill slit my wrists) probably around 3.8 though.
Professional Skier (matters at all?)
Going to have a paid internship at a Med School doing research this summer.
If I applied for Spring 2011 WHAT ARE MY CHANCES??
slash what if I applied for fall 2010 would that decrease my chances? assuming im going to be working at a Med School all summer
oh and I'd be applying as a Psych or Neuroscience major. Maybe physics though. whats the easiest college to transfer into at Berkeley? does being out of state decrease or help my chances?

If your high school GPA was 3.3, what precisely makes you think that a college GPA above 3.7 is a given?

Anyway, you absolutely cannot transfer to Berkeley until you’ve completed 60 credits, which most likely means you’d have to wait until fall 2012. Being out of state does hurt you a bit, but the admission rate for OOS transfers is still a decent 20%.

during your sophomore year, you can apply for a transfer for your junior year

Would it be best to just go ahead and get/have your Associates degree BEFORE applying? That way you already have that degree–or do they still ‘dissect’ your Associates degree for the “60 transferable credits?”

^ Anyone?? :)

@amarkov: i know plenty of people who slacked off in high school but once they got to college they started focusing.

I know plenty of people like that too. But I know even more people who think they’re going to do so much better in college… then find out that focusing alone can’t get them an incredible GPA. It’s very possible for him to do well I’m sure, it’s just not guaranteed.

I’m a freshman at georgetown, but I have probably 40 credits worth of AP classes from high school. Could I apply as a transfer using those credits to count toward my 60? And if that’s possible would that be a ridiculous thing to do?

regardless of how many credits you have, you cannot transfer to any UC earlier than your junior year. also, although you may get credit from your AP classes, they’re going to be looking for 60 credits of courses that you’ve completed in college. with that being said, i would love to go to georgetown instead lol, except i didn’t apply there. why do you want to leave georgetown?

So they care about what year you are not just how many credits? On the website the only information i could find was that you needed 60 credits. Why don’t they want sophomore transfers? And is there really no way i can go there next year?
