Transfer Help??

So, I just completed my first semester of college as a music education major. However, I decided that it was not right for me and I decided I wanted to change my major to Environmental Engineering, Unfortunately, my school does not have that major. I would ideally like to transfer to UC Berkeley, but you can’t transfer there until junior year. For right now I changed my major at my current university to Ecology for Environmental Science, but it won’t cover all the requirements I would be doing if I were an Environmental Engineering major. I don’t want to be years behind, what would be the best option for me?

Just take a look at the curriculum at UC Berkeley for their environmental engineering major. If you can take classes somewhat in line for it that might help! Also if I’m not mistaken UC Berkeley would still utilize the IGETC for GE requirements for the first 2 years so you should try to follow that and focus on getting good grades in math/science to show you’re ready to switch to engineering.

IGETC is not accepted by Berkeley’s engineering department.
Engineering students have less general education requirements than most, if not all majors, and full completion of prerequisites is required in order to become an eligible transfer applicant.

California community college applicants who have completed all of the required prerequisites have the highest priority.

Therefore, if time is a concern for you, transferring to a California community college to complete all the required (and recommended) prerequisites would maximize your transfer chances.

assist.org will tell you what the prerequisites courses are, and the transfer page of Berkeley’s engineering department outlines everything you need to know.

Thanks! I appreciate your responses.
