Hi everyone,

I know the people at my college will figure out who I am, I apologize in advance for what I am going to say.

I am considering a transfer, I am currently going to a small liberal arts college, with alot of tradition, enthusiasm, and connections...
however few resources outside of a basic cirruculum only slightly expanded and maybe even less impressive than alot of high schools.

During high school I had a 4.0 gpa and pretty good SAT scores, but more importanly I showed a good record of involvement and dedication, especially in the fact that my family had done Native American dance my whole life, and I had been in theatre for many years, played piano for many many years.

Because of my personality however my interests are split right down the middle, (though some would argue with this, and should) they are as follows:

Quantum Computing
Piano Performance
Japanese culture studies

I have already become fairly accomplished in these. Ultimately I will have to chose between them I am afraid. My original plan was to become established in research and then use my financial stability to pursue a performance career then continue to travel, hopefully to Japan. However at my college I am coming to realize that despite the promises that they would tailor to my interests because of the size of the college, I will not be able to study these topics to a level I wished. Liberal arts is good and all, but if you can only lightly cover the topics with which you wish to specialize, then how can you be expected to compete?

I think that the only chance I have of becoming involved to the level I desire in these topics (exception of piano maybe, they have an excellent piano teacher here) is to attend one of the well known schools(Stanford, MIT,etc.), and theses were my thoughts when I began to apply but I came to realize that even despite my good academic records and personality I would never recieve any considerable scholarships to those schools, I have not yet had the chance to participate in any national competitions to become known in that way, etc. I ended up going to where I am at because they offered great financial aid, and I can only afford very little.

But now that I am here I am seeing that the academic environment is not at all up to what I expected from college, and it is limited in its subject matter, I feel hopelessly trapped and none of the projects or designs I had previously made out with be contributed to in any way at my current progress.

I am going to apply for transfer to some of those schools but I will never be able to afford it and my family is very enthusiastic about the school I am at and they think that transferring will not solve much of my conflict.

Anyway that is my story, I am a highly personable, yet introverted dreamer in my freshman year of college,
If anyone could come up with some suggestions about transfer, about the liberal arts, about career paths that would be great,

Thanks
