transfer or first year applicant?

So here is my story..

I am a non-US citizen, who have taken a semester abroad while being in high school. Here is the suckiest part: they ask you for a two year home stay (actually it only concerns not entering the States), so I was not eligible to apply for any US colleges this year. (And to tell the truth, I did not know enough back then about how to get a tolerable amount of fin aid)

What I did was..applying to American Schools all around the globe. I am going to Taiwan in August for my Freshman year, but I am absolutely sure I am not going to stay there for more than one year (the college is very small and it does not offer a whole range of courses).

I am applying for several US colleges (including the top ones) next year and I know I'm most likely to be considered as a transfer student, but I am afraid that my college in Taiwan does not offer really complicated courses, that would look good on my application.

Do you think I should still be in college and do some extra work (ad apply as a transfer student) or withdraw my application and go to Taiwan for my gap year (work, studying Chinese, community service, etc.) and then apply as a first year student?

I'm kind of new to the forum, but I'm seeking your advice so badly:]

Withdraw your application to tha college in Taiwan. Do a gap year instead. The colleges you want to apply to will consider you a transfer student. This means that it will be much more difficult for you to be admitted, and even more difficult to get any financial aid.
