Transfer- Question about admission

Ok, for starters, I am a new poster here (as you can tell) so go easy on me if this has been asked multiple times already. :)

I am currently looking to transfer to USC, ideally enrolling at the start of my junior year, but as of right now I have a few questions about the admissions process.

My questions are: If my first major of choice is the Writing for Film & Television major and I get rejected, will I still be able to gain admission to-- let's say-- the College of Arts & Sciences? Possibly as an English major (my second choice)? Or, does USC automatically put you into the CAS if you're admitted and then decide on the other school of your choice (in my case, the SCA)?

I'm asking this because I know the SCA programs are EXTREMELY competitive and I don't want my entire application to be riding on my admission to that one specific school. I would still like to attend USC regardless. I am currently an English major right now, so I would have no problem continuing on with it; the Writing program is merely a dream major that I've wanted to pursue for years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi! I too am a transfer to the SCA Writing program. Unfortunately, if you have not heard back by now then yes, you have been rejected.

I do believe that you would either be placed in undeclared or your second choice major.

I was also told that SCA looks over your application before the university does, but there has been some debate about this.

Thanks for replying so quickly!

I actually didn’t apply this year, rather I will be applying next year. That’s good to know though. I really want to attend USC regardless if I get accepted to the SCA Writing program or not.

Thanks again, and congrats on getting into the Writing program!
