I recall the hopkins junior tranfer's application does not require SAT's and highschool grades being sent, ie, they are optional. I wanted to know, because i was a sloppy kid in highschool, will Hopkins hold grude agiants my application if i dont include them?

Already answered -- see point #2:

& here too:

I think I am going to have to define the phrase "search old threads"...

and so polite too...

lol sorry admissionsdaniel, i know i am a fool. :(

AdmissionsDaniel, are you on the admissions board at Hopkins. just making sure, i know your name is obvious enough, im just curious.

i dont want be a burden by making another thread, so i will post it on this one. AdmissionsDan, if i take the ACT on Oct. 28, will the scores reach Hopkins admissions by the time you begin reviewing applications? Would it be better if i took the one scheduled on Sept 16? Thank you, AD, you have been a great help.

Abethebutcher: See this post: "Hopkins strongly recommends that Early Decision candidates complete their required standardized tests no later than October of their senior year ... Although we cannot guarantee that November (ED) or January (RD) scores will arrive before the Admissions Committee evaluation, past experience suggests that scores taken on these dates usually arrive in time."

admissions daniel, or anyone, so when would you suggest i should take the ACT's and have them sent. obviously, i want the latest, and i am a transfer student. any suggestions?

Well just take it ASAP

Several states have it in September, but then after it's October so that's the last chance you get.

abe - yes I am an official Admissions counselor at Johns Hopkins University and yes I do sit in on the Admissions committee. That's why I get the cool title of "College Rep" and my AdmissionsDaniel moniker is put in italics.

as far as ACT question, from your previous posts I am assuming you are a transfer applicant. If that is true, than ACT scores are optional just like all standardized test scores. If you do want to submit standardized test scores with your application then they must be taken prior to the March 15, 2007 deadline. Do not that we do not begin reviewing transfer applications until April and decisions are not released until the end of May.

If you are applying as freshman applicant, than refer to tanman's post and link about standardized test dates.

Thanks AdmissionsDan. your pretty helpful on CC. personal question: how do you get to be an admissions office, espically at such a presitigous school? were you a dean before?

No I was not a dean before coming to Hopkins. I am entering my ninth professional year in College Admissions having worked for two schools and my alma mater. I entered the field professionally after choosing not to pursue a career in journalism and media. I had volunteered in the Admissions Office at my alma mater and given tours, and decided it might be an interesting career to try for a few years. 9 years later and I have found a profession!
