Hello, I am wondering if I am a candidate to transfer to BC, Nova, or ND. Currently I am a freshman Virginia Tech currently an undecided student.

As of right now I have a 3.73 GPA while taking the standard 15 credit course load. I would be applying for the fall of 2014. Hypothetically if I kept my grades at the 3.6+ threshold what would my chances be?
Currently taking:
US History
European History

Intro World Politics
Freshman Seminar
Linear Algebra

Planning on taking
Intro Business Information Systems

I would be applying to the College of Arts and Sciences

I have many ECs from High School and right now am involved with intramural sports

From a Private Prep School I had a 3.4 UW GPA with an upward trend along with a 31 ACT score. I was previously denied from BC and Nova when I applied in High School.

Any Info would be greatly appreciated

I am applying for transferring to similar/the same places with almost identical HS stats and similar college record. If anyone could answer him it would help me too

Hi,
I actually transferred to BC and got in with a 3.65 gpa from my old school, after being denied when I applied as a senior. My high school gpa was around a B+ and 1940 SATs. I would advise taking a variety of liberal arts classes that would satisfy those school’s core requirements because those subjects are easily transferrable. Also, I would recommend getting involved at your current schools and you can say you want to continue them at the new school. A good piece of advice that I got was to look at the different school’s websites and look for things that they offer that your current school does not. Be careful not to say anything bad about your school, just that BC, ND, or Nova would have better opportunities for what you are looking for.
Hope this helps

Exactly, I am looking for a strong liberal arts program specifically for Political Science. While VT’s political science program is great I feel that I would be getting a better education in this field at these 3 schools. VT is great for engineering, sciences, and architecture.

I transferred from VT’s engineering myself to go to USC’s Viterbi (starting this January) recently. I would think your GPA is respectable. I had a 3.4 when I applied and a 3.29 after the spring. Granted, all I was taking was engineering classes lol. I was double majoring in CS and CPE if you were wondering, and am going to do CS and Engineering at USC.

I would look at each school’s degree program and try to take something that looks like you would be making process towards completing it. Also, try for the more difficult courses that would tend to be “weed out” classes. If you can show you can do rigorous courses, I think any of those schools would at the minimum consider you for admission. Transfer admission is more than just numbers though. Make sure your essays show you want to go to each of those schools and a good reason to transfer. Also, prof recs are annoying, so you will want to get to know a couple professors well. Good luck!

Bump really interested in BC and Villanova right now
