Ok, so I have completed 48 units at a CC and my GPA is 3.82, this includes all core edu. classes and spanish 1,2,3. I am currently working on my writing samples for the cinema production dept. What is everyone doing for the fictional character profile, a narrative? Also, what is the average GPA for acceptance to the cinema dept.? I know that the average GPA for USC itself is rather high.

Anyone?????????

No one on here is in the Cinema program?

Be patient and hopefully, you'll get some answers. If not, wait a few days or weeks and try again. Not everyone checks this page every day- especially on the weekends.

Good luck.

My daughter transferred into the program of Critical Studies. She was a spring admit, undeclared. But SC knew where she was going to be in critical studies. Her gpa was almost a 4.0 (from SC and her first school). Had she wanted I imagine that she would have THEN gone into production, but it turned out the Critical Studies was her perfect fit. It is quite difficult to transfer into production. You might try Critical Studies first and then petition...and petition...to get into production.

the cinema school is not so formulaic as simply riding on average GPAs. so much is about the essays and examples of creativity that come across through the profile list. the character profile and emotional moment can be written in whatever style strikes your mood: they want to give your creativity tons of room to shine in whatever format is more "you"

Thanks for the responses. I am stressing out with the DEC. 10th deadline for Cinema Dept. apps.

You do not need to be in production to do make movies. Critical Studies and the required production courses, plus making your own films and helping others on campus make their films will teach what you need to know. Ask Bryan Singer, Critical Studies major.

Well, submitted my apps. and mailed out my stuff yesterday. Now its time for the long 5 month wait. :(

wow u are fast. I'm trying to transfer into animation in the cinema school, lets see how that works out for me. :)

Yeah, good job on getting it done so quickly.... I'd much rather be waiting than frantically trying to finish before the deadline. hehe

^ Good luck to both of you

^ Best of luck to you.

I had been working on my writing samples for the last 4 months, so when it came time to mail them out there really was nothing left for me to do. I really didnt want to be anywhere near the deadline and have something go wrong. :)

true. I'll start pulling everything together next week when i'm done with my other projects.. sigh. Well all I have to technically do is put my portfolio together so :) Good luck!
