Really good recommendation letters and essay

What do you think?

Why do you want to go to Columbia?

I fell in love with Columbia when I visited it my senior year of hs.. It isn't the best engineering school, true, but it's a place I really want to spend the next three years of my life. I really enjoy the idea of The Core and running around nyc completing Art Humanities assignments. I can't find anything wrong with it. I guess it's the perfect school for me.

Why are you unhappy with Rutgers? (Just asking these questions 'cause Columbia will ask.)

I had my eyes set on Columbia for 2 years now and Rutgers is not remotely close. I really want to experience Columbia and live in NYC. Rutgers is such a big university and I hate leaving my campus (Rutgers New Brunswick has 5) to take a class in another. I don't feel like I live in a close community and I hate running into drunk people puking everywhere.

^seeing your reasons and your record, you definitely have a fair shot at getting in, seas likes to see research and community service. grades are good enough, your high school record isn't bad, but your grades in college should suffice. You just need to show them why you are really passionate about columbia, and why it'll make a huge difference to you achieving your potential by coming here.

Not only that, but you also have to show/explain how your presence will be beneficial to Columbia.

sorry for not posting early, but i ended up getting accepted(and followed through with the transfer). thanks for your support =]

congrats, ED. that's a very tough hill to climb.

i’m really sorry to be reviving this old thread, but how difficult was this process?
and were the courses tough at rutgers university? or were you pretty much a good student in HS therefore you had a solid foundation of work ethics and stuff.

once again really sorry!
