So I dropped out of school back in December 2016. I was going to have to do an extra semester of school, so two more years, and the tuition was a huge burden on my family because it was a private school.
In Fall 2017 I started working at a smoothie store and applied to transfer to Florida schools.
In Spring 2018 I started working at an upscale movie theater. That summer I found out I didn’t get into the schools I applied to because my GPA was below a 3.0.
In Fall 2018 I was working at a different movie theater that shows classic and independent Films. I also started taking classes at my local community college to raise my GPA.
In 2019 I worked at a performing arts center as a bartender/barback. I got fired for dropping Bacardi. I started working in the kitchen at a sushi place. Then I looked for a better job, so I started working at a steakhouse. I also reapplied to Florida schools with my raised GPA and work experience.
This year I started working at as a culinary trainee at a different fancy restaurant.
Today I found out that I got into UF as a transfer for Fall 2020. All this hard work finally paid off.
