What makes you think going to a CC will give you a better chance of making it to MIT than going to a non-top school with fairly good financial aid? If you are very much financially in need and have done well for yourself, chances are some university will offer you aid.

You may even choose to forget about attending MIT and find that you can graduate from that hypothetical university instead.

What do you expect to do in CC that will suddenly give you a shot at MIT? Given that nearly nobody from high school gets into MIT and transfers are even fewer, there’s an overwhelming likelihood that you’ll not make it in even if you try hard.

That doesn’t mean don’t try. But it does mean take the best route for yourself independent of getting into MIT or not. Please do yourself a favor and apply to a few good schools you can get into, which offer terrific resources for what you want to study, and if finances are a concern, go to one which offers you a good aid package.

If the best option left is CC -> transfer, sure go that route, but you could also transfer from another university, right? I say pick a full 4 year university if possible, simply because you could conceivably just stay there and graduate if all else fails.
