Ok so right now I am about to graduate from high school and I am slated to attend The Ohio State University next year (I am on a couple of waitlists though, including Georgetown, my original #1, so we will have to see what happens there).

I applied to Penn CAS RD and was rejected, no real surprise. Got into some nice schools but couldn't really afford them (FA problems, Penn I would have to borrow extra money but their FA is soo good it wouldn't have to be exorbitant amounts).

So I am going to OSU this fall and I am excited about it (cuz you know, its OSU, I'm probably gonna have a hell of a time there) but it was my instate safety and I was disappointed I had to stay instate.

I'm not saying I'm disappointed about OSU because of prestige, my final options were OSU and two SEC schools that didn't have as good of business programs as OSU does. Only reason why I didn't pick one of them was their scholarships offers barely made it cheaper than OSU and I felt that I could get more bang for my buck at OSU. OSU would also give me the best prospects for investment banking/high fiance after graduate (yes OSU does send a few kids into "top" jobs, but you apparently have to work you @$$ off just to have a fighting chance. Apparently Goldman hired 2 or 3 Buckeyes for IBD in NYC last year, not too shabby for a midwestern non-target).

But anyways, I am content with OSU. I know it is not on a UVa, Michigan, Berkeley, etc...level for publics, but its not that bad. But my goal is to work on the East Coast in finance, specifically NYC after graduation and the only place better than Wharton might be Harvard Econ.

So, I know getting into Wharton internally from Penn is pretty hard and it is even harder coming from an outside school. And it apparently helps if you go to a "top" school like Stern, UVa, etc... so it would make it even harder for me coming from Ohio State.

So at OSU, I would probably need a 3.9+ GPA, involved in some clubs as a freshman, volunteer, etc...along with taking pre-reqs as well.

They will probably look at my high school transcripts too, right? Not too shabby, but it is easy to see why I got rejected from Penn first time around:
4.22 GPA (3.8ish UW), 2110 SAT, Eagle Scout, 1-2 jobs throughout H.S., 400+ service hours, etc...

Not amazing numbers, but it won't keep me from getting in, right?

Also, how is the transfer process/application? Do we have to write a lot of essays?

thanks, any other tips or advice? This is all speculation at this point, I may fall in love with OSU and not want to bother with transferring but going to Wharton would make my career goals a lot easier to attain.

Thank you.
