transferred to UC - can't pass classes

First, I'm not 100% sure if this is the right place to make this post, and sorry if it is not.

So I transferred to UCLA last year, Fall 2009, and my first quarter I dropped physics. I have passed all classes since then, but am worried about this quarter. I am taking my second physics class and a lab class. Both are difficult for me. I decided to enroll in just two classes, knowing that both are hard to pass and that taking a 3rd class would be too much. I have a feeling that I will get below C- in both classes. School is really difficult for me (I try very hard) and I don't want to be dismissed. The total units I am enrolled in total to 9 units. I also know that if I get below 1.5 GPA that I will be subject to dismissal. Does that mean will have no chance to improve? Any suggestions?

My plan is to speak to a school counselor after my midterm on Monday.

There is a separate UCLA thread you can post in.

The quarter just started. You still have time to improve. You are not destined to get below 1.5 gpa. You know your problem. Now fix it. Are you really doing everything you can to stop you from not passing?

Try tutoring. Ask your classmates for help. If you don’t understand something then ask the professor or TAs.

You are taking 2 classes man. There should be no excuse in not passing.

I know that when i transfered there is a TON of resources to help you out at UC’s. They want to pass you and it’s kinda hard not to pass.

At UCI, at least they have LARC where is student tutoring from a student who has taken the class before. It’s 1 day a week and you pay like 80 a quarter which is pretty cheap. Theres also office hours and TA office hours, and also discussion. You have multiple chances of hearing the material explained in different ways.

At worst there also forming a study group. Since you live on campus i think? The difficulty of that shouldn’t be too hard.

How your social life at UCI? Sometimes all it takes is to feel comfortable on campus to make you do better.

Took 13 units in the fall and 16 this quarter should have a 3.9~ish gpa very similar to what i had in C.C. As long as you work hard the UC’s are not much harder

physics is hard. its one of those classes that no matter how hard you study if you dont have the natural math/technical talent you will struggle.

What’s your major? Do you need the physics classes you are taking? If yes, is it still possible for you to change majors into something that doesn’t require physics?
