I spent the Fall '08 at Vassar college and I missed my home so much that I left after that (there were some relationship issues, too). I spent Spring '09 at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and now I realize that my reasons for leaving Vassar no longer apply. I know it seems INCREDIBLY FICKLE and I apologize for that.

I want to transfer back to Vassar either Spring '10 or Fall '10

I know their Transfer rates are low.. do you think I will be at an advantage or disadvantage for having been to their college and left?

A friend of mine did essentially this thing back in the last century at a Vassar-equivalent LAC.

Pick up the telephone on Monday, and call the admissions office at Vassar. Find out what you have to do.

Good luck!

would you even need to apply? Unless you signed something saying, “I will never return, I am leaving you for another university,” they shouldn’t even know you transferred (my university never asked me). Many kids take a semester or more off from school and return without reapplying. Maybe you can just say you took the semester off from Vassar. It’s the 100% truth and so I think you won’t even have to bother with another application.

Yeah, unless you were like kicked out or something, usually the admissions process is considerably simpler the second time around. I was considering doing the same thing, and I know I wouldn’t have to re-apply if I went back, even though I was out for almost a year, since I didn’t flunk out or anything like that…

alright…here is a question…
Is it advisable to talk to your first college advisor/counselor about the transferring plans to make sure it is possible to transfer back to same college after 2/3 quarters??
Also how many quarters do u have to be away in a different college to transfer back again to the same college?

thanks!

It may not be that hard to transfer back. They may treat your time gone as a “leave of absence” and you may not even have to apply again. Call them and ask to speak to an advisor or admissions officer and they should be able to tell you everything.

Check to see if they have an “Application for Re-Admission”.

I know at my school if you leave for more than 2 quarters you have to fill out a one page form to gain back entrance.
