I transferred sophomore spring to another college as I was really homesick at my old school. Both the schools have an equal ranking/repute but the new school had more students from my country which I liked. My gpa at the new school first semester was below 2.5 while I had averaged a 3.4+ at my old school. I’m now in my junior fall semester and thinking of transferring back as it would be really tricky to get a good gpa at my new school although I’m more happy socially. Any thoughts?
First question: do you need financial aid? Transfers get very little funding.
What do you plan on doing after graduation? If you are not a citizen, you will have a rough time getting a job in the US.
I forgot to add that I applied for readmission at my old college and was accepted. No problem with aid.
I want to get into finance or consulting.
My main concern with transferring back is the reaction of people around me and the adjustment factor.
Why are you transferring back? Do you have a good academic reason, well then that is what you tell people.
Is it mostly social? Then tell them that reason. “I had trouble focusing on my studies there because I was expected to constantly socialize with people from my country.”
Why do you care about the “people around you”? What matters is getting your degree with the best grades and recommendations possible so that you can start your career after graduation.
