Transferring from CSU to UC

@Alden97 I really doubt the Ivy Leagues would accept me, seeing as their students had EXTRAORDINARY ECs, even winning national awards, and having huge leadership positions in their schools. Plus, there are a lot of universities that surpass Ivy Leagues in engineering. In high school I took AP and honors courses, as well as 4 Bible classes and regular Spanish classes. Honestly, I don’t really feel bothered by the rejections anymore. The plus side is that with all my AP test scores, I’ve knocked out quite a few credits already.

I understand how difficult it must be. I really wanted to apply to Cal and UCLA. However, my math score on the SAT was slightly low. I didn’t apply, but now I regret it since I wonder what could have happened if I did. :confused: But we both could apply to Berkeley and UCLAs grad. schools for Mech. Eng. I’m sure with our stats. we could work hard for undergrad.

You’re right, they don’t.

Anyways, did you try appealing? I seriously think something must’ve gone seriously wrong… your stats are more than good enough for almost every UC, and definitely on par with UCLA and Cal admits. Definitely higher than mine.

Agreed that you should go to a CC rather than CSU.

@Truust I am already enrolled in CSU Fullerton. My parents would never let met attend CC since they payed a lot of money for me in high school to go to CC. Like I posted earlier, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Irvine, Davis, and Riverside notified me that all available spaces in my major were filled. Cal and UCLA, I’m pretty sure I was not competitive enough for their engineering schools. Four of my former classmates were admitted to Berkeley and LA for engineering and their GPA and test scores were much higher than mine.

I’m absolutely shocked that this happened to you. You should have tried appealing. Your stats are beyond impressive, and should have garnered you acceptances to all those schools. Sorry, what major did you apply as?

@noel597 Mechanical engineering

Great, my stats arent nearly as great as yours and I also plan to major in ME. I don’t see how they all could have rejected you.

@howtosaveuhlife like I posted in threads that asked me, universities have their reasons. 5 of the UCs could not offer me an available space in their ME program. Cal and UCLA are just extremely difficult to get into. Looking at the stats of the admitted students proves those students deserve to go to either of the two schools.

You know, I actually had a similar case in my class this year, except he was an Economics or Business major (can’t recall which). He got rejected by ALL UC’s, except for Riverside, and he had a 2340, multiple 800’s on SAT II’s, and a decent GPA. Read his personal statements too, and they weren’t horrible. All of us thought he’d get in pretty much everywhere.

Strange times.

@Truust
What is his GPA? Most UCs (except UCSB) do not care much about SAT scores. If his UWGPA is below 3.5, then it makes sense that most of the UCs rejected him. Also, are you sure that he applied to all UCs (including UCM)?

Definitely sure his GPA was above 3.5, don’t know what it was exactly though. And yeah, applied to Merced as well.

This was just a terrible year for all the UCs since the applicant numbers increased dramatically. :/

@silas6070‌ Hey, Im going for computer engineering. I am also going to see if I can transfer on the 2 year mark hopefully to a UC but atleast one of the cal poly. Maybe we can be transfer buddies! I am sure you will be able to since it looks like you are a determine person with those stats. I on the other hand must work harder.

You have lots of determination, and in order to transfer, that can help you. Just always remind yourself when you’re studying hard or working yourself over the limit why you are doing this: to transfer to a UC. :slight_smile: I pray we are both successful in transferring to the UCs of our choice.

hello there…I’ve been following your posts, and I feel your frustration as I went through the same thing. I am curious to know where did you end up at for Fall 2015. Did things work out for you?

@18871968 Oh sorry for the late reply, it’s been a while since I’ve logged on. I don’t know if you read my other threads, but I’ve answered similar questions regarding my current status. As of now, I finished my first year at CSU Fullerton with a 3.9 GPA (a GE screwed my 4.0 up but oh well). I am double majoring in mechanical and electrical engineering and have taken quite a few engineering courses this past year. I am on the track of still graduating in the 4 year frame. But I am just going to stay in the CSU for various reasons. I was indeed very disappointed that I couldn’t transfer, that and seeing as CC students have a better shot, yet I just felt that I should stick it out at Fullerton since the tuition is a lot cheaper and I wouldn’t want to spend money on room and board, that and on top of the chances of me are slim. I am currently volunteering as an equipment assistant at a hospital, as well as being tutored by a friend of mine for the GRE. I DEFINATELY do have the intentions of still going to graduate school at either Cal Berkeley or UCLA, especially since the graduate schools have A LOT of resources and such.
