Transferring from Hopkins

I'm currently a freshman at Johns Hopkins (BME), and am seriously contemplating a transfer to Duke for a variety of reasons (that I've listed in another thread). So, without bothering you guys with the reasons I have for wanting to transfer, I just have a few questions about the transfer process:

1) Do both of the required teacher recommendations have to be from college professors, or can one/both be from high school teachers? The classes I'm taking this year (e.g. Physics, Neuroscience) are quite large and don't really offer an environment that lets the student get to know the teacher wel.

2) How different are financial aid/scholarship opportunities for transfer applicants?

Thanks for reading :)

Geez, transfers are so few that I don't know if anyone here can answer these questions accurately for you. You might want to contact the admissions and financial aid offices directly for this.

Hmmm will do. Thanks for the heads-up

This is interesting...

I'm a freshman at Duke and I almost went to Hopkins (enrolled there but then I was accepted by Duke). Could you redirect me to your post about why you want to transfer?

By the way, good luck!

I'm fairly certain financial aid is the same for transfer students (i.e. need blind and full need met). However, it's tough to get in, but if you've done well at Hopkins BME, you should be near the top of the pack. Don't know about the recommendations. Oh, and I chose Duke BME over Hopkins BME and Penn (another school on your list). :) I was told during the Hopkins info session that the first semester grades can only be uncovered by you, so I'd think that might make transferring a bit more complicated if you choose to keep them secretive. I know for sure somebody who did well first semester so chose to have her first semester grades available on her transcript at Hopkins.

hey myang guess who i am?
btw chance me plz :P
