I am a Sophomore currently attend LFC majoring in Finance and hope to transfer to UIUC College of Business. I will apply for the Fall 2018 Semester. Currently I have a 3.4 GPA and by the time I apply I would have finished all pre-reqs for the College of business and hope to increase my GPA by then. I also would have completed an internship at a bank in the Finance department and I am currently doing Finance research with a professor. I have a few community volunteer positions one is with the youth and development of the youth. My ACT was mid 20’s, nothing special. I also am a minority.
Do I have a shot at getting into UIUC College of Business? If so, is my shot at it low, medium, or high?
The transfer admission rate for the business college at UIUC is usually in the 12% to 15% range. As a result, anyone who applies should consider his chances to be low. You need at least a 3.0 college GPA to apply. However, that only gets you considered and the typical range of most of those admitted is 3.6 to 4.0, and many in that range actually get rejected because the college does do a complete file review and considers EC’s that demonstrate leadership abilities, and essays to be very important. If applying for transfer into junior year, your high school record and ACT or SAT scores have little to no importance. Being a minority is a favorable factor considered.
You need to improve your GPA. That’s the major criterion. Can you take an extra class that’s known as an easy A in addition to classes required as a pre major?
High school and ACT scores won’t matter, but leadership positions, on campus involvement, internships will all factor in.
