ive posted here before but i just wanted everyones opinions...

im a freshman at mit and am doing poorly academically due to multiple reasons. luckily cuz of failed classes being on no record first year here, outsiders don't really see that. despite having stellar high school records, i feel like i was not prepared for such a science/math intense courseload (my high school was very humanities-based). in addition, i have not really enjoyed the atmosphere and school here and i dont possess the same kind of excitement for mit like the students do here. thats played a huge role in my performance.

that said, being a massachusetts native, i applied for transfer to harvard, upenn wharton, bc, and bu. [all schools i had gotten into as a freshman]

w/ harvard out of the picture, it looks like upenn is my top choice but its the farthest from being a sure thing so it is very likely im going to BC for business.

I just wanted to know wat everyone thot bout going from a school like mit to a school like BC. im pretty disappointed in my options now (having been accepted to harvard, mit, upenn, columbia, cornell only a year ago). I am really not enjoying mit and i want college to be something i thoroughly enjoy. will i still have a successful career going to a school like BC?

of course. BC is a great school...what are you talking about? this just shows the loss of perspective on CC. anddddd youll probably get into wharton anyway.

Is it impossible to do 15 in Sloan or something? If that's not possible, what about 14 and 17? And even if ALL of those are not possible, you still have 21H and L? MIT is an engineering powerhouse, no doubt, but their humanities and social sciences are still very strong. I just don't see why anyone would want to transfer from MIT (especially since Harvard isn't an option), and extra especially since there are other paths to take at MIT instead of the straight-up hardcore engineering disciplines. Have you tried discussing this with your adviser? MIT provides a lot of resources for its students to succeed, you should take advantage of it.

If I get end up getting into Berkeley, can we trade places? LOL MIT's been my dream ever since I visited, but I didn't have enough time to fulfill their SAT-2 requirements for transfers.

Seriously, there's gotta be better ways for you to work this out. Again, I don't think what you need at this moment is this board, I think what you need is to fully utilize the services MIT offers to its students. You paid for it, use it.

P.S. I want to point out that I do realize that you're not liking your time at MIT, but I believe your poor academic performance is directly contributing to your unhappiness. Work that out and I think you'll be just fine.
