Transferring- Is going to CC going to hurt me?

I am currently a freshman at the University of Michigan and am wanting to transfer to either UC Davis, Pomona, Occidental next year, or possibly UC Berkeley my junior year. I realized that University of Michigan was not for me ( I am from California) and am applying to UCD, Pomona, and Occidental for sophomore transfers. I am thinking about dropping out at the semester and doing community college for the 2nd semester of freshman year. How much do you think that will hurt my chances for admission of those 3 schools?

My high school gpa was a 4.3 with a 2000 SAT, and my first semester college GPA should be between a 3.5-3.9. If i drop out and get a 4.0 and CC will that hurt my chances of admission as opposed to stay at michigan the full year?

Why not try winter transfer back to a Cali school? I’m sure most of them would have taken you anyways as a freshman.

The UC schools have something called TAG, or Transfer Agreement Guarantee, with cali CC’s. I lived in Cali for 3 years before moving and was going to transfer to UCDavis. If you’re in at UM and haven’t fallen completely off with your grades, your going to be more than fine transferring to UCDavis.
