I am going to college in 2011, Spring. Cornell has always been my dream school, but I didn't apply because I knew that I wouldn't be even considered. My sat scores were about 1700...
I am an international, and my school didn't have GPA but I think it would have been somewhere around 3.0.

Anyways, I am seriously considering transferring as soon as my freshman year is over to Cornell, as an architecture major. I was wondering if anyone would like to share some 'tips' for me, or what I should try doing throughout my freshman year to really become a competitive transfer student.

I’m considering transferring as well, except mine will be after sophomore year. Your SAT and GPA are a bit low, but you can make up for it in college; I guess my best advice would be to get as good of grades as possible. Getting a 3.7-4.0 in college will make up for lower high school stats. Find some extracurricular(s) you enjoy and that will look good on an application; for me, I’m volunteering at a hospital and doing some research next semester. Finally, work hard on the essays. Show what you would bring to Cornell and why you’re worth adding to their university. Good luck on the application!

Transferring to cornell aap into arch is nearly impossible. It is a 5 year plan but good luck. Other schools in cornell are much more accepting of transfers

@bauman1535 that’s really good advice. My ec’s have always been very good, I am sure going to keep it up on college. I am probably going to do more volunteering, since I only had about 75 hours in 3 years. @ceresma, I know that transferring is very hard, nearly impossible for my major, but I think it’s always worth a shot. You won’t ever know until you apply.
