<p>I'm looking to transfer to CALS or Humec, and their transfer required coursework includes "introductory biology 1 and 2 with labs"</p>
<p>and I am assuming "introductory biology 1 and 2" are equivalent to Bio G 1105 which includes biochem, cell biology, physiology, and anatomy...and Bio G 1106 which includes Genetics, Development, Behavior, Ecology, Evolution, and Diversity. </p>
<p>The problem is that I found the classes at my own college that match the descriptions of 1105 and 1106 fairly well but the first part of the biology class does NOT include lab!! I called CALS and asked, and the lady told me that the class HAS to inlcude lab. So I don't know what classes to take...</p>
<p>CALS offers Coursework evaluation so that the counselors over there can go through and see if my classes match with what CALS requires, but that takes up to 10 days, and my registration date is coming up in a few days...so if you guys can help me I'll really really appreciate it.</p>
<p>I was going to take Bio 93 and Bio 94, but 93 does not include lab, and 94's pre-requisite is 93 so I can't take 93/94. I have to choose another set of bio classes and I don't know which one. Please help me. Thank you.</p>

<p>Cornell’s policy is relatively lenient regarding transfer requirements (at least for CALS) and I don’t think it will be an issue. At Boston College, labs were not required for introductory biology as a biology major so I just took an additional two credits of labs to meet the requirement and everything turned out fine.</p>
<p>Just to be double and triple sure, I would give Cornell’s Biology Office a call, or at the very least, the CALS registrar (or Hum Ec). </p>
<p>The entire Intro Bio program was completely overhauled, so significant changes have been made. We no longer simply have Intro Bio 1 and 2. Now there are 3 intro level courses that are on specific Bio topics, and you need to choose 2 of them. Lab is a totally separate course. So, I would imagine since most other schools don’t do it this way, they should accept the way that your school offers it. But before you enroll, it’s probably worth checking this out.</p>
<p>HumEc lady actually allowed me to set an appointment with a counselor so I’ll be able to ask him what to do hopefully. But I’ll surely give Cornell’s Biology Office a call and see what they say.</p>
<p>Yes- 1105 and 1106, are what’s called Auto-tutorial. They are NOT lectures, they’re self-taught. Those are great because they cut out the BS that comes with the intro bio lectures. However, now that the Bio major was restructured, the autotutorial classes (at least this was my understanding) cannot be used to satisfy the Biology major requirements for intro bio- only the 3 new classes can. Stupid new system, it makes everyone’s lives difficult I’m a Biology student advisor, and even the student advisors are still learning the new requirements. It’s a real pain.</p>
<p>Yup, here they are. There’s 3 of them, of which you must take 2. Each course is 3 credits. The BIOEE versus BIOG, is meaningless for our purposes- it’s just indicating that the course is crosslisted. The course BIOEE 1610 and BIOG 1610 is exactly, 100% the same.</p>

<p>In addition to the Intro Level courses, since these are only lectures, you will need to take 1 semester of the Investigative Lab (intro bio lab, BIOG 1500). It can be taken either semester, and is a 2-credit course.</p>

<p>Well it is possible that since Cornell changed its bio program in an odd way (only one semester of lab with 2 semesters of intro lecture), it’s possible that from your first year college, they will want you to just go the “traditional” route. Having looked through your catalog, my <strong>disclaimer</strong> recommendation would be BIO 94 + BIO 94 L one semester, and then BIO 99 + BIO 99 L another semester. </p>
<p>**My disclaimer is that I personally don’t know the breadth/depth of the course and the lab component, or if other courses listed for your bio classes have lab components that would satisfy the requirements. I would say call up the Cornell Office of Undergraduate Biology, and ask them if they can verify that the courses you would like to take will satisfy the requirements. <p>Thank you Medsox, and I’ll definitely give her a call. But Bio 94 has a pre-requisite of 93, and 99 has a pre-requisite of other classes too so haha yeah this is complicated…I’ll ask her and also HumEc counselor tomorrow.</p>

<p>I can’t do that because Bio1L has a pre-requisite of “Prior completion of or
concurrent enrollment in BIO 1” meaning that I have to have either completed BIO 1 or take it with Bio 1.</p>
