Transferring to Cornell :)

So... I'm going to BU this fall as a freshman (Terrier :P) and was looking at these transfer threads to see if I had any possibilities of transferring to a top tier school. Well, it looks pretty difficult and I'm not sure if I'll end up transferring. The only reason really that I might think of transferring is because Boston has been my home since 2006 so I thought a change could be good. I have nothing against the university (except their well-known grade deflation with pre-med classes, sniff). I love it already haha but who knows, I'm going to try my luck. I was thinking of applying to start as a sophomore to the school I apply to but I don't know yet... In HS I had a 3.7 UW (95.2%), high honor roll list, SAT 2230 (CR 690, M 740, W 800), SAT II 730 Chem, 760 Bio, 800 Spanish, AP Art I & II (4, 5), AP Bio 5, AP Psych 4, URM (Hispanic). About 250+ hours shadowing surgeons and doctors in the OR and clinics, lots of hours volunteering at a hospital in the ER and Peds department, AP scholar with something I can't remember right now, state art awards, and several school and sport awards (varsity volleyball, ice hockey). Hoping to get a 3.8+ first year, though I doubt since everyone thinks getting a 3.5+ at BU is impossible if taking pre-med classes. However, if I do get a 3.7 GPA at BU let's say, what are my chances for Cornell?

Sorry for the essay! Also, what do you recommend to better my chances? I'm hoping to do at least 1 year of volunteering around my community before applying, shadowing and hopefully be able to fit some clubs like pre-med society.

For whoever read this whole thing: thank you :)

Your high school grades are great, so that will help for sophomore transfer. Just try to get as many As as possible at BU, grades are most important. Its incredibly competitive, but doable if you have.compelling reasons for transfer, great grades, and excellent essays.

thank you SMRSMR! What should I get for GPA to be on the safe side, 3.7+? Hopefully I’ll get more than that though :P

The higher the better, but 3.7+ is a good target. Don’t go below it though. Also I heavily stress what Cornellian said. Do your research why you really want Cornell over any other top tier college. Try not to mention “prestige”.

Thank you SMRSMR and Cornelllian! I am happy with my decision to go to BU. Who knows if that will change. At the moment, I’m thinking transferring could be an option but I will definitely do my research to see if Cornell is the best choice for me and see if I fit there. Again, thank you :)
