I'm applying to Lafayette as a transfer from Wellesley and I was wondering if anyone who transferred there knew what it was like coming in as a transfer, i.e., is it hard to make friends as a transfer? Is the school welcoming?

writer_gal,

First off, you might consider contacting Joan Lichtenwalner with any questions about the transfer process (lichtenj@lafayette.edu). She is the admissions director in charge of all transfer applicants.

I do know a couple of transfer students, myself. One is currently in an English class I'm taking on Medieval literature, and no one would know he wasn't a "true" Lafayette junior if he didn't tell us during student introductions. He is very involved in campus activities (Forensics is his forte), and is always eager to contribute to class discussions.

Another friend of mine is a transfer, as well. Again, you'd never know she was a transfer because she is so involved with her extracurriculars.

I don't know the exact number of transfer students we accept each semester, but I imagine it's not that many (it depends largely, I think, on the number of students transferring out). If your grades at Wellesley are stellar, I'm sure you'll be seriously considered at the very least!

I know another guy who is a transfer (and international actually) and he is fitting in well.
