Hi I am starting my first semester at a community college in Texas I have been researching universities I would like to transfer to and UCLA is at the top of my list. I have read all the information about transfer students on their website and for every major there is preparatory classes that have to be completed. I am not sure if my community college offers any of these and if it does what are the odds it is transferable? My question is it possible for me to transfer to UCLA given the circumstances. Thank you in advance.
- Can you pay $65K/year to attend as a Transfer student?
- California CC applicants get priority followed by UC to UC, CSU to UC, 4 year CA University transfers and then finally OOS transfers.
- To be a competitive applicant for UCLA, you need to complete as many of the pre-req courses, required courses and the GE requirements possible. Since the CA CC system is setup for UC transfers, the articulation of the transfer courses is much easier than OOS courses so you may have a difficult time.
I can give you link for 2017 UC Transfer GPA admit ranges by campus and major to give you an idea of your GPA goal:

I would also post your questions in the UC transfer forum: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/
Depends on your major. There are some non-impacted majors that don’t require prereq completion, and simply want the student to demonstrate interest in the major + general education. It might be harder to get into a heavily impacted major like bio that has many prereqs and requires student to finish all of them.
