Transferring Twice?

This semester I wanted to take a semester off, but unfortunately my parents are very conventional and did not allow me to. However, I was very unhappy at my previous school (a top 20), so transferred to my state university instead & think I would like to try to go to a better school for the remainder of my academic career. Eventually, I really would like to go into a PhD program--would it look bad to these programs if I transferred twice? I was rather successful at my other university (over a 3.5 GPA), and just decided I wanted to transfer too late to get Spring applications into other universities besides community college/state schools.

Please let me know your opinion!

These things happen. I’m not at all sure if you’re shooting yourself in the foot, but it could be that the biggest hurdle will be having to get 3 transcripts for your next move…job / graduate school…instead of one. It’s also important for you to know the requirements you’ll need to graduate. Schools, for instance, want you to take a minimum number of credits at their school to graduate. They may also want you to be there for 4 semesters. Plus, they may not accept all your previous credits. So, the net-net is that you’ll have to check with your new school what they require.

But does it look bad? For job or more schooling, it’s not great, but it happens. Not often, but it happens.

It doesn’t matter how many times you transfer. This year, I’m applying for my third transfer. The only things that matter for graduate school are your GPA, GRE scores, and research experience.

anyone has successful double-transfer stories to share?
