I'm looking to transfer to BU or Northeastern for their fall 2014 semester. Their deadlines are March and April 1st respectively. I'm a freshmen right now at a decent 4-year school with only one semester. I was planning to send my application after freshmen year, but it looks like I won't be able to do that due to their deadlines.

I'm essentially wondering if these schools will base my acceptance on this one semester. Granted it was a good semester for me as I got a GPA of 3.84, I can't help but think I won't make a strong application with only one semester as a freshmen.

Yeah I’m definitely going to apply but I mean is this typical of freshmen transfers who want to transfer into the fall semester their sophomore year? I wanted to send a full year of grades, but their deadline is before the end of my spring semester so I’m only going to be able to send them my fall grades.

You should ask them if you can send a spring grade report. Some colleges allow you to, others don’t want it. This is customary though for freshman transfers to have only one semester of grades. Your HS grades will still weigh heavily in their admission decision because you haven’t completed much college coursework.

NEU doesn’t require HS transcripts and BU does, but I don’t think they would be in my favor. I had around a 2.7 in HS will my 3.84 in college be enough?

If you write good essays and have solid EC’s I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t be competitive. You should definitely give it a shot. What is the approx. USNEWS ranking of your current school? top 100? top 50? Just to get an idea of where you stand.
