Transferring

Some of the AP classes I want to take later in HS: AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science

GPA: 3.71(Freshman) I am now a sophomore

Comparisons:

Christian Private High School

Pros: familiar w/ people
Cons: 3-5 clubs, only offers AP Calc AB and AP Physics B, and no computer science classes

List of classes I took Freshman year: Geometry
Conceptual Physics(only option)
Bible
Ancient World History(only option)
Spanish 1
Freshman English
PE
List of classes I would take IF I went back for sophomore year:
Algebra 2 Honors
Biology(most challenging bio class I can take this yr)
Chemistry Honors(only chem. class offered)
Bible
Sophomore English
Spanish 2
Modern World History(no AP or honors offered)

Public HS (The school I am going to right now for my Soph. year that just started today(8/25/09)

Pros: Lots of clubs(main ones I’m interested in: math and science club), offers AP Calc BC, AP Physics C(mechanics only), Computer Programming, AP Euro Hist.
Cons: may not be as competitive as the private HS(?), I don’t have friends here yet.

Class for sophomore year: Algebra 2 w/ Trig. (No honors Alg2 class for this HS)
Biology(most challenging bio class I can take this yr)
Chemistry Honors(same as above)
Sophomore English
Spanish 2
AP European History

Public HS #2 <- I applied for an interdistrict transfer, but it was declined because the school is full. I am hoping to go to this school for my junior and senior year.

Pros: offers AP Calc BC, AP Physics C(both mechanics and electricity & mag.), AP Computer Science, math and science clubs, the school has won various national and regional competitions or were finalists in math, science, robotics, and debate competitions; known for academic exellence

Cons: none that I am aware of

Last school year, I completed my freshman year at a private Christian High School.
This year, for my sophomore year… I am attending the first public high school that I mentioned. If I am successful to get an interdistrict transfer, I would be attending public high school #2 for my junior and senior year.

My question is: Would the switching affect my chances of getting into a college of my choice, because I personally think that my reasons aren’t good enough for switching (specifically UC Berkeley, MIT, Cal Tech, or any other good engineering/business schools)?
