Have any transfers double majored at Cal? Is this even allowed/possible? Were you able to do it in four semesters(two years)? What did you double major in?

I’m considering double majoring and from what I’ve read you generally just have to fill out a form to submit and before your Senior Spring semester and they will extend your admissions for another year. People were talking about capped or impacted majors but I’m not sure which those are. You can either fill out a form to double major within your same College or at another one.

In my particular circumstance, I only need 11 3-4 credit classes to graduate from the Coll of Chem. Since I have completed the Letters & Sci requisites through IGETC, I would like to pick up a double major in MCB (in Immunology). Because my major (Chemical Biology) Upper Division classes overlap with 2/6 Immunology Upp Div classes, it would be fairly easy for me to take 4 additional classes (plus one bio pre-req). The Bio dept actually states that you are allowed to overlap 2 required classes also.

I think it really depends on the college requisites that you would want to double major in. For example, someone in Bio probably couldn’t pick up a double major in Engineering because they’re most likely missing a lot of pre-reqs (Ex. Calc 3 & Lin Alg) and because the Engineering courseload is extensive and they might not be able to finish within 3 years. At least, this is just what I’ve learned from reading through the various course catalogs.
