I'm coming from a Quarter system school, so I was wondering how it would translate. Or, do we just start over?

Your GPA resets to 0.0. Transfer credits are NOT included when computing your UR GPA.

This does not mean your old grades disappear. They will appear on your transcript, but will not used to computer any part of your UR GPA and your eligibility for things like Dean’s, Latin or departmental honors or Phi Beta Kappa. You will just have 2 separate GPAs–one from your old school; one from UR. If you apply to professional or grad school, both GPAs will be considered and grades from both colleges will be used when computing a final GPA. How this gets accomplished and how each GPA gets weighted will depend on the specific rules of the grad/professional school.

The Registrar’s Office will determine course equivalency based upon course descriptions and will award full or partial credit for each of your transferred classes.

Be prepared because some of your coursework will not transfer or not transfer fully, and you may need to retake courses or take additional courses to fulfill graduation and departmental requirements.

Generally speaking, 3 quarters = 2 semesters. A one quarter course will usually count as 3 credits whereas a one semester course will usually count as 4, or occasionally 5, credits. (And this may cause problems when you have your degree audit done because graduation requirements are expressed as credits.)

That helps a lot! Thank you very much!
