At a very early and critical period in childhood, my curiosities became engrossed by the world of fine art. Developing a sophisticated understanding of the influence of art in a society shaped not only my perspective of the potential I held as a creative individual but more importantly shaped the notion that creative thinkers and artists alike are humanitarians seeking innovation in all pillars of society. Queer artists like Andy Warhol and Keith Herring further inspired this concept in me by means of unearthing voiceless conversation that dared the nature of conformity and provoked revolutionary action in the world. Years were spent exploring the diverse canopy of art in search of an adequate route for me to express my humanitarian purpose with passion and ambition similar to those who inspired me. Architecture proved to be rewarding in the sense that it has a direct relationship to the human user and therefore the influence of design is most permeable to society. The ability to command the built environment is a profound duty where paving the world before our eyes define the psychological experience of humans in the urban domain. Charitable passion for innovation is what allows architects to have such authority in the direction of our world’s future and it is this idea of power that drives me to where I am today.
My time at Santa Barbara City College taught me to diligently investigate these ideas with deeper scrutiny than ever before. Review of my course history will reflect this standard with a strict orientation towards humans and their environment. A diverse education in Art, Design, Science, and Humanities provides the literacy to relate these two subjects in a manner that is uniquely authentic and lends itself to outward expression. My portfolio showcases this in a carefully curated assemblage that tells a visual story detailing a capability to adhere to the principles of composition. My process to achieve such a level of quality in project execution revolves around unique design solutions, tailored to the complexity of the project. Referencing upon successful design solutions of past great designs that parallel my desired results. Yet my work still provides the fervence for individuality and emotion that inspires me and is necessary to inspire similar thought in others. My process to achieve such a level of quality in project execution revolves around unique design solutions, Drawing parallels between the desired and tailored to the complexity of the project. The accumulation of so much knowledge in a short period of time has lead me to USC and the undergraduate architecture program. I see a reflection of values between the program, its faculty and I that seeks newer pastures in urban development. Especially in such a contemporary city as LA, the study of a topic like architecture should be graced by the constant presence of innovation which can be found both on and off campus.
The Department of Architecture at USC has set a benchmark for excellence by providing students with educational resources that give mastery to their diversity of experience and eye for innovation. The Human Capacity for advancement is increasing exponentially, especially in the urban landscape. USC values the pertinence of innovative thinking, and I see myself as a reflection of such innovation. It is in syncopation with program requirements that I can bring my acquired skillset and elevate the expectations from a university which holds its directive towards reimagining the future. With Rigor and high standard for success in the undergraduate program I can proceed with with a sharpened ability for critical thinking and problem solving through architectural representation in the real world. Provided from this experience I will proceed in my goal of being a leader in a new era of design, more globalized and interconnected than ever.
