Traveling Abroad

I am not sure where to post this so I am posting it here :)

I know this forum is generally for parents of college kids however I am a parent and a college student :)

The reason for my post is to get some info/tips/advice/input ect on a travel abroad opportunity that has come available.

I am a 28 yr old mother of 2, I am married and we live on the West coast.

An internship/travel abroad opportunity to Paris has come available starting Fall 2011.

My kids, my sister and I are planning on going to Paris together (my Husband will be there off and on). I am planning on staying 1 to 2 terms. We've already started studying French some time ago, though I know in Paris a lot of people speak English. My kids are picking up French better than I ;)

Any tips you can think of? I've seen a lot of info on traveling abroad but not with a family. Is it unheard of for families to do this? I have traveled a quite a bit but never to Europe.
Right now everything is in the "planning" stages. Any ideas as far as budgeting? We plan on traveling outside of France somewhat while we are there. We are looking at some family friendly districts in Paris. What are your opinions?

Naturally I am a bit nervous but so very excited as is the rest of my family.

Thank you and I look forward to your input :)

Where you able to find any valuable information? I’m thinking about doing the same with my toddler down the road, but wanted to know the ins and outs about it.

Jmivaldi, click on the poster’s name and you can see the other posts made. She hasn’t posted in over a year but there are a number of posts related to travel abroad. See what’s there.

Please use old threads for information only, do not post and revive them. Instead use the New Thread button to ask your question(s).

If the travel is college related, this is the correct forum. If the travel is strictly personal, please post on the Parents Cafe forum.
