Basically what the title says, what are the pros and cons of both. (Size, distance, social scene, etc.)
Bentley student here. Honestly, I wanted Trees going in as a freshman and got it, but looking back I think Slade would’ve been better. Sade is coed (where Trees is same-sex floors), so you get to know both girls and guys. People say that Trees is great because everyone is connected, but I felt like it was a lot more divided than people thought. I didn’t really like my floor in Trees (or at least wasn’t good friends with any of them), but if you are your social life will be good.
Slade and Miller are definitely nicer in terms of living quality, and have much newer and bigger rooms. But I wouldn’t ever want to be in Miller (disconnected, a lot of international upperclassmen as opposed to freshman). I’ve heard the laundry rooms and bathrooms in Slade are even more crowded so that is a con. Distance wise, there is not really a difference, but just realize that if you are in Spruce as opposed to Alder, you’ll have to add about a minute and a half to your commute to the dining hall/gym. Also, Alder and Spruce (at the end of Trees) have long hikes to the laundry room in Elm (at the center of Trees). I recommend that if you go with Trees, try to get a double that isn’t on the basement (bathroom quality is particularly worse). It doesn’t matter where you go in Slade, but don’t get stuck in a forced triple, because I’ve only heard bad experiences.
In terms of distance to classes, there really isn’t a difference, and compared to someone living on lower next year (me), your walk from Slade or Trees is a luxury.
The most important thing is that you like your roommate(s), or at least can live with them.
Congrats on choosing Bentley, you won’t regret it!
