Tricked by counselor! Took a gap year but didn't explain what I did during it......

<p>So here's the deal:
I took a gap year and devoted it to running own companies. I wrote an essay about it, and wrote it as a typical day in my gap year. However, because my counselor told me I didn't need to submit it, I didn't tick the box "did/will take a gap year" nor send the gap year essay!!! Just after I submitted my app, a Yale student that had read the essay told me to send the gap year essay...</p>

<p>What should I do? I've done some research, and it seems like all schools really emphasize the importance of explaining the gap year... And I'm not sure if my gap year will be clear to all schools, only to some schools who had supplements where I had some room to explain...</p>

<p>Thinking about mailing it in - should I?</p>

<p>^Um call up the admission office. They will tell you how to deal with this. I am sure they will still accept it.</p>
