Trig or Pre-calculus ?

My son will be in 11th grade next year. He has already taken Algebra I and II and Geometry. He plans to take Calculus his senior year. What should he take in 11th grade…Honors Trig or Duel Enrollment Pre-Calculis and why?

I would ask your guidance counselor what they think is best as they have the most knowledge about what both courses at your school cover over and which is best to preparing for what your Calculus class covers.

I agree with the poster above, and will add that chances are excellent that a pre-calc class will include some trig.

My son took Trig one semester in dual enrollment (community college) and Precalc the next (UF). He then took Calc 1 via UF online, and is now a freshman at UF and just finished Calc 2.

Apparently our community college advises Precalc first, then Trig (why I do not know).

Where will he take Calc 1? I would contact them and ask which sequences/courses they suggest.

What did he use for alg 1&2 and geo?

Try to take both. At our school Trig is taken simultaneously with Algebra II or with Pre-Calc. Both are pre-requisites for Calculus.

Pre-calculus will likely include trig (there may also be some 'slow sequence ’ where they’re separate.)
If he takes pre-calculus through dual enrollment, will it free a class period and what will he take (math or something else?)
