Hey, so for the fall 2018 I was thinking about applying to Trinity and Connecticut College as a transfer; so for those of you that were admitted as a transfer student. Can you please tell me the college GPA you got into to does schools with and the type of courses you took that were transferred. Also your high school GPA. Please I need this information so I can know what to look after for. Also anyone have tips on how to get into a selective school as a transfer applicant.
Thanks !
Hey! While I can’t answer your specific questions, here’s some transfer admission statistics, just to give you an idea of their selectivity. I doubt there are people on this forum who applied to Trinity and / or Connecticut College as a transfer, much less get accepted. It’s a VERY small pool of applicants.
Trinity College: 28.68% transfer acceptance rate (258 applied, 74 admitted)
Connecticut College: 44.06% transfer acceptance rate (143 applied, 63 admitted)
This data is pulled from last admissions cycle. I compared their past transfer statistics, and the amount of transfers they accept every year is relatively consistent.
Best of luck!
Thanks you so much but what advice would you give, what grades and gpa shoukd I try to shoot for my first year of college so I can get admitted to at least one of the schools.
Well, naturally, I would tell you to shoot for the highest GPA you can. Trinity College seems quite a bit more competitive than Connecticut College simply by looking at the numbers.
If you check out Trinity College’s “Transfer Admissions” page, it states “Generally speaking, we suggest that candidates present a post-secondary cumulative grade point average equivalent to a B or better.”
Now, this does not mean that getting a 3.0 means that you’re guaranteed to get in. You should at least shoot for a 3.4-3.5+ to be competitive.
Aside from GPA, keep in mind that EC’s, personal statement (and other essays), etc. are factored into admissions.
From what I gather, you plan on applying as a rising sophomore (i.e. applying after your first year). In this case, HS / Test Scores are looked at. (However, Trinity College does not require SAT / ACT for transfers).
If you have a sub-par / mediocre HS GPA, it may be prudent to apply after your sophomore year of college (i.e. applying as a rising junior).
