Despite the name, Trinity is not affiliated with any religious tradition. I would not call it conservative, either.
Trinity is not religious based.
Not good choice of words, but the students who look at the crunchy granola schools aren’t typically looking at trinity, comparably more conservative than some of the other LACs in the area. It has a small # of jews, but fewer percentage wise than many of the LACs in the area.
@jym626, indeed, I said that. People outside the NE who could pay for a private may opt for a state school. Do you disagree with that? I certainly didn’t say that Southerns only like state schools. I’m perplexed because I can’t figure out what point you’re trying to make.
Your post read as an implication that way. JMO. Was simply mentioning some options some in the s choose, even full pay (and even with fewer choices in the area). And people in the NE who can pay for privates may opt for, for example, a SUNY.
Was part of the conversation here 2 days ago. Not sure why its coming up now.
Certainly many of the students can afford it. NY Times lists Trinity as #1 for having the most students (26% of student body) of all colleges from the “top 1%” (over $630k) household incomes in America. 75% of student body come from households who make more than $110k, “top 20%” of household incomes in America.
Sadly, there is a risk for lower income families who rely on good aid. Variability of financial aid from year to year is a huge worry. Even an increase in income may sometimes leave a huge affordability gap for families, as college costs may become higher but not commensurate with what a family can truly pay.

This is a very nice article about the history of Trinity College…and some of the things it does for the surrounding community as well as how it became what it is today.
No religious affiliation.
Trinity meets full need and they’ve recently rolled out a new FA program with 4 year aid for lower income families which appears quite commendable.
