troop poll

Oh, hell. I can say that about EVERYTHING he's said so far.

Hey, clueless! Check this out! (I even used Wikkipedia so you wouldn't feel like you were being taken adavantage of.)

In 2005, Berkeley admitted 9,000 freshmen from an application pool of 37,000 applicants, an acceptance rate of 24.5%.

In 2005, USNA admitted 1,220 freshman from an application pool of 11,259 applicants, an acceptance rate of 10.8%. (Data from a RELIABLE source, namely the USNA itself.)

Your crow is served. :D

Nice job Zaphod.
confused, if you put up any more "arguments," I have but one word for you: BOHICA! I'll let you figure that one out.

Oh, he has moved well beyond BOHICA and straight into FUBAR. He completely skipped SNAFU and TARFU on the way.

;)

ETA:

Well, maybe not.

BOHICA, Clueless! Here's your second course of crow. Still hungry?

In 2005, USMA admitted 1,251 freshman from an application pool of 10,773 applicants, an acceptance rate of 11.6%. (Data from USMA.)

I'll resist the urge to beat on the Woops for this. :D

In 2005, USAFA admitted 1,390 freshman from an application pool of 9,601 applicants, an acceptance rate of 14.4%. (Data from USAFA.)

I'll now resist the urge to beat on the Zoomies for this. :D

In 2005, USCGA admitted approximately 300 freshman from an application pool of approximately 6,000 applicants, an acceptance rate of 5.0%. (Data from USCGA.)

The shallow-water sailors shall remain silent as the Navy (once again) does the fighting! ;)

So what do we have here? Excluding USMMA (due only to lack of data), we have, in 2005, approximately 4,161 freshman admitted to the Service Academies from an application pool of approximately 37,633 applicants, an acceptance rate of 11.1%. All the Academies COMBINED admit less than half what Berzerkley lets slither through the door each year, at more than TWICE the selectivity rate, having received MORE applications.

Q.E.D. and OWNED. :D

USNA has a place in Bancroft Hall that would (if you had a clue) move you to tears. It is huge, grand, decorated with battle flags from the fleet and busts of famous naval heros. It is silent, dignified, and honorable.

It is called Memorial Hall. The centerpiece of that hall is a glass case under which are the name of all the graduates who have given their lives in combat. That list has dozens and dozens of names on it, and it has grown longer since I graduated. I'm afraid I may now recognize a few of them.

I imagine USMA and USAFA have similar places to honor those who gave it all.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy is privileged among the nation's five federal academies to be the only institution authorized to carry a battle standard as part of its color guard. The proud and colorful battle standard perpetuates the memory of the 142 Academy cadet/midshipmen who were casualties of World War II.

I am fairly certain that USCGA has a memorial to those graduates who have died, in times of peace and war, performing their duties.

These are places where sacrifices beyond anything the average civilian ever faces are honored and remembered.

Tell me, clueless. What does Berzerkley have? A memorial to those brave souls who ran to Canada when their country called on them to serve?

ETA: Thanks to LFWBDad for the info on the USMMA.

acceptance rates usually don't mean jack if you told half of texas to apply to the university of south carolina and their acceptance rate is 4 percent it doesnt make it a good school, it just means that a lot of people applied. SAT and Class Rank on the other hand do make a difference. If they are so selective why is that the one kid from my school that is the only kid in my school who applied to WP, and who got in, had stats consideraby lower than the rest of us. I don't even think he's in the top 10 percent, let alone the top 5 percent. But , that's expected being that only 49 percent are within the top 10 percent. You can say what you want about historical contributions or other phony things, but my sources on RANK and SAT of admitted applicants came from US NEWS, are they bogus now too?

And how terrible, that the lunatics tried to stop this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:TrangBang.jpg
That picture is everywhere and half the world has seen it so don't gibber about it being from wiki. Those children must have been guerilla fighters, seeing that they look like they are maybe 8, right? How terrible people were that they were trying to stop this. The humanity. Have you guys ever heard of the My Lai Massacre. Or are you just trying to forget because it shakes your beliefs? And speaking of that "glorious war" most credible sources believe that over 2 million civilians were killed by American and South Viets. Not fighters, civilians, innocent bystanders.
Didn't you say earlier that if the President passed some crazy law legalizing rape it would be up to people to resist it . That's what students at Berkeley, Columbia, the University of Wisconsin, and Kent State did. Remember Kent State?
In regards to Berkeley, financial need plays no factor in the admissions decisions, being a need-blind school. How is it for the high and mighty? Actually you get points if you come from a disadvantaged socio-economic background, we have affirmative action, because we don't hate black people. If you in Podunk are so great why did you have Jim Crow Laws until the 1960's!! funny , you were yelling bloody murder at the nazis for attacking jews, but the treatment of blacks in the country wasn't exactly something to brag about. And it was in the South not the North or that Krazy Kalifornia that had Jim Crow Laws. Care to explain that one?

Confused ... tragically there are many innocents, some are your fellow Americans!

why do you constantly mix 9/11 with a discussion of iraq or nam they had nothing to do with each other, are you that ignorant you can not tell arabs apart? or are they are all just the same to you

And again, he's African-American if you cared so much about his people why did you guys go out of your way in the South to make their lives a living hell. And the only reason you guys stopped is because righteous people from the North ans West made you. And , that episode was another example of why states rights isn't always such a good thing. Because in the South it meant you would abuse your citizens if they were a different color.

As long as we are posting pictures, take a look at this one from a place not very far from where I live. There is plenty of injustice in this world whether it was in Vietnam 40 years ago or lower Manhattan just five years ago. My son, who is among the brightest and most talented of his graduating class, has chosen to accept his very coveted appointment to the Naval Academy. He could have gone to almost any of the top schools in the country. I am very proud of him. While I accept that not everything is always perfect within the United States military (or UC Berkeley for that matter), the fact remains that these young men and women are willing to put their lives on the line to protect us and the very freedoms that we all cherish (and allow us to engage in such lively discussions that we do). When the enemy is close to your doorstep, tell me how you feel about the army, navy, air force or marines.

Confused...it appears that grammer is not a factor in gaining admission to Berkeley based on your acceptance.

You need to show some gratitude towards our military and their families. It is based on their sacrifices that allows you to write the crap that you write. Congratulations on your acceptance to Berkeley by the way. Clearly that is the institution you should attend. You would not make it through any of the academies since you clearly do not excel at mind games. Based on your writings to date, you clearly believe whatever you are told without any need for investigation.

Confused - I just want to ask you a couple of questions.
Why do you live in America?
You've mentioned that you are Iranian; were you born here or did your family emigrate?

Sheesh! You ain't kidding! I'm still trying to separate the hysterical rantings from the 5th-grade grammar to see if there's a coherent thought in there.

BTW, if you think the Civil War was fought over slavery, then you ARE a victim of the Kalifornia public school system.

So you're Iranian, eh? Interesting.

If this country were as evil as you claim, you and your family would be rotting in prison camps right now.

And, of course, we have an enlightened view of tolerance in Afghanistan, where they are about to kill someone for coverting from Islam to Christianity. We may not be perfect here, but freedom of religion is something we came up with well over 200 years ago.

www.nytimes.com/aponline/international/AP-Afghan-Christian-Convert.html

Sorry, but I don't cry for the enemies of my country. If you're going to count innocent dead, please don't forget Dresden or the fact the we nuked two Japanese cities. I, for one, and damn proud that this nation waged total war when it needed to, and I'm disappointed that we're not doing it now.

You really are clueless, aren't you? You are so blinded by your abject rage toward all things American that you can't even realize just how totally stupid and disjointed you sound.

Tell you what, buddy. You go to Berzerkley. Bring your prayer rug. Shout your slogans. Just remember one thing: when this country gets ticked off, it tends to seriously get the job done.

Gone are the days when you and your ilk could blind the American people by controlling the media and lying through your teeth. Gone are the days where you could paint our military as a bunch of maurauding murderers. We know who you are, and the fact that, despite all the negative press, all the money from George Soros and others, all the propaganda films by Michael Moore, all the lies spread by the Democrats, your candidate STILL had his ass handed to him on a plate proves it.

You are lucky we are a civilized nation who even tries to fight wars with restraint. Were it up to me, I'd have the American armed forces in Iraq face east and start walking forward, slaughtering everything in sight, until they reached water. I would have fused the Middle East in one giant glow-in-the-dark glass-covered parking lot on September 12th, and damn the outcry. You wouldn't have to worry about facing to pray to Mecca because it would be in orbit, so no matter where you lifted your ass to pray would be equally valid. To borrow a phrase from a fellow alumni, the Koran would have been read only in hell.

Your lack of understanding of American history is appalling. Sure, you know all the right buzzwords, pictures and dates, but you have no earthly clue how they fit together or how far we've come. To hate so much at age 17 can only come from a mental disease or a complete imersion in radical Islam. I suspect you suffer from both. The fact you are going to Berzerkley surprises me not one bit. They probably will think you are a great, enlightened intellect. The fact is you are a hate-filled, ignorant, ****ant.

There was a time not too long ago where people like you were rounded up and imprisoned for sedition and treason. By democrats, even. We are long past that time now.

Again, put your money where your mouth is. Get on a plane, fly to Bahgdad, pick up an AK, and live out your fantasy of being a holy warrior against the Great Satan. Go on. I'll make sure your 72 virgins are waiting for you.

"why do you constantly mix 9/11 with a discussion of iraq or nam they had nothing to do with each other, are you that ignorant you can not tell arabs apart? or are they are all just the same to you"

No, we are not the ones confused here. We know Al Queda was in Iraq at least since sept of 1999 according to Iyad Allawi -- who was at that historic Islamic "peace conference." Do you really believe Al Queda had/has cells in every major country EXCEPT Iraq? The same guy verified King Abdullah's statements that Hussein REFUSED to hand over al-Zarqawi to authorities in Amman. We certainly know Al Quaeda is in Iraq today.

And you're the one that is "confused" and obsessed with "the South" and slavery. Why do you confuse every discussion about 9/11 with the Civil War? Are you suggesting there are no skeletons in the closet from your own country? Don't you think everyone here, North and South, believes that slavery was an abomination? We've gotten past it -Republicans (Lincoln's party by the way) and Democrats alike -- why can't you?

Because it makes him feel so good to sound so smart!

Because America is responsible for EVERYTHING bad in the world!

Global Warming!

Economic Collapse

Poverty Gaps!

Ozone Holes!

Terrorist Attacks!

Comets crashing into Jupiter!

Tell me, Clueless, does your manhood swell every time you remind us of our (surprisingly few, considering) mistakes? Is that all you can do, or are you going to go out on a limb and actually proposed legitimate, workable solutions?

THIS ought to be good.

ETA: BTW, I'm still waiting for you to answer my question. If you, in your supernatural brilliance and crystal-clear understanding of all things historical, socio-economic, and political, are going to attend that superlative institution of higher thought and learning, Berkeley, then WHY are you here consorting with us knuckle-dragging, bottom-of-the-class, low-SAT-scoring, blood-soaked, slave-breeding, children-whipping, puppy-kicking miscreants?
