So am studying for my next Biology E/M SAT II exam, and I'm having trouble understanding how I can determine whether a pedigree is showing a sex-linked or an autosomal disease?

Can anyone please explain this little thing to me? I'll be thankful !

If it’s sex linked, the son of a mother with the disease will always have the disease. The daughter of a father without the disease cannot have the disease (though she can be a carrier).

Afflicted mothers have afflicted sons, negative fathers have negative daughters.

If everything else fails, just do trial and error; try it with both autosomal and sex-linked, and see which one can’t work. Or just do what betc said; more males get the sex linked diseases.
