Trying to calculate Class Rank

Yeah I am set on one school. A while back, I had many schools in mind but so many I eliminated after constant research and deciding how I will feel if I was in classroom, dorm, social-wise , etc…

I try finding other schools but they just didn’t click right with me…they just weren’t my taste.
I am just so uptight with my college choices…it’s a long story as why I am the way I am.

UGA is the only college I would want to go in Georgia.I never liked GA the 8+ years I been here and UGA being here is only what makes being here tolerable. If not UGA, there is no college I will go to. None in GA that interests me, I definitely cannot go far…so yeah.

I apologize for my stubbornness. =P But I am very very harsh on my selections.

It’s not like I never was open minded in the beginning. I was very lenient on schools I chose in very beginning but as time approached quickly up to this point, I had to start eliminating and being more restrictive/selective…

And out of the 64 colleges I’ve researched the past 9 years, only 1 still remains.

1) Everyone can have a dream college. I have one that I like to call my “realistic dream” college since I’m fairly sure I will be accepted there. You don’t have to be thinking of Harvard to label that college as your dream college; I think that UGA is probably what you consider to be your dream. I’ll leave it up to you to determine how realistic it is since I don’t know your situation.

2) Everyone should have some sort of backup plan. Mine involves a state flagship that I wouldn’t mind attending, and at which I am already guaranteed to be accepted. I have a few other colleges I’m applying to so I can compare financial aid offers. Even if the college isn’t “perfect” in your eyes, it’s still better than the alternative in my opinion. Some people can start his/her own business straight out of HS and be very successful. Most are employed at some other place of business working for minimum wage so they can try to pay the bills; I’m sure this isn’t the kind of life you imagined.

3) Research colleges that have a good program for what you want to major in that will also offer decent scholarships for you. These colleges might not be UGA, but it’s still better than nothing. I’m not trying to discourage you from going to UGA, but having other options in case a) you aren’t accepted there or b) the financial aid situation doesn’t work out is important. Good luck!

Another tip that I heard somewhere on CC:

Pick your dream school and then FORGET ABOUT IT when picking safeties and whatnot. Your prospective safety schools may be very good institutions, but if you have it in your head how great UGA is, then the safety may look pale in your opinion.

You really can’t only apply to one school. I’m sorry, but you are being very naive. Not going to college really isn’t an option in this day and age because you will never get a job other than at mcdonalds.

I am aware I am naive. And yes safety does look very pale in my view and there isn’t any safety schools within GA that will be of good fit for me major-wise and financial wise.Only UGA made the cut.

And I am only applying to one school. And people still have option whether or not to go to college, if their financial situation allows it.

And I have been researching for colleges. As I said before, I have been researching for years on numerous colleges for programs for my major, financial aid help, etc etc. And I will repeat, many have been ruled out.

And heck, I know many people who graduated from college who are homeless and more penniless than people who didn’t even go to college. Many are working below the minimum wage.

I know someone with degree similar to what I plan to pursue who is unable to find a job for almost nearly 8 years now.

And I know more people with college degrees working at McDonald’s nowadays than people without one.

I am naive and I am not afraid to admit that fact. But the nagging thought of personal things that has happened to me made me be this way.

If one doesn’t have a option and is basically forced to do something, the results just won’t be pretty. It’s up to the person to make a choice.

I know my decision and I have reasons and personal background as to why I make my decision. I didn’t just make my decision spontaneously and without thought. It’s actually something I sat myself down, wrote down, and planned through.

Clearly you haven’t planned well enough because everyone. needs. a. safety. You’re screwing yourself over if you don’t have a safety. Sis you need to get it together before you make a huge mistake. If the application fee is what discourages you you can always get a fee waiver. Safety school is not synonymous with perfect college. My safety is a school I absolutely abhor and truly would not like to attend but I’m going to apply anyway because it’s a relatively good~ and affordable institution.

If you get rejected by uga and don’t go to college you are kissing your life goodbye. College not only gets you a job but also provides an environment where you can truly develop your views to where you don’t have a pigeonhole mindset (a lot still do but w/e) Anyway, you clearly don’t want to listen so it’s on you. Hopefully you do get accepted though
