Trying to get into MIT?

I know this question has been asked probably a few hundred times but I'm sorry, I'm just really worried. Last term (half of semester) I got one or two (I do not know which my grading website is awful) B grades in biology and art, an A in health, but a C+ in geometry. Will this affect my chances of getting into MIT greatly? I am currently a freshman doing robotics and am almost an Eagle scout. I also am a developer for multiple computer platforms. If I do well in the next half of the semester and get all A grades, will this help? Tips?

Thanks

Yes, a C+ in geometry will hurt your chances. It won’t hurt that much if you rock A’s in the next few years (freshman grades are de-emphasized by adcomms), though.

Frankly, yes. But you’re in freshman year so don’t sweat it! Colleges want to see an upward curve so as long as you do well the next three years, you’re okay. No need to worry; it’s too late to change your grade anyway.

If you had gotten all As except for that 1 C+, I would say no. But because you did get a few Bs, yes it’ll hurt. A handful of our Seniors last year had a C+ in their Junior year and still got accepted into UChicago, Harvard, and Vanderbilt and what not. The main thing is if you have all As on your transcript except for that blip of a C, adcoms won’t really care too much.
Just focus on keeping As for the rest of high school and make sure you do good on the SAT and subject tests!

Just get an A second semester, geometry isn’t that difficult, I am sure you will do well! Good Luck!

…not so much, as long as you ace all your other math/science grades and test scores between now and applying…

All those B’s and all those C’s. You’re screwed.

I have a hunch that you’re Asian.

Relax, if your grades start to improve and improve towards a peak, you’ll be fine.
