Trying to look my best before college starts... help!

lol, yes i know the "anatomy lessons" that are related to muscle building. and please, why use such negative words like stupidest. Cause i'm sure you've done things stupider than lifting for 3 hours in your life.

I'm lifting every other day with aerobic exercises in between.

i hope this settles the arguement. Jeeze, sorry for the misunderstandment.

I feel obligated to respond. Lifting three hours a day is a ludicrous idea, even if you think you're Arnold Schwartenegger.

Rather than going into a massive lecture outlining why its incredibly stupid and adverse to your goals, because you're young and stubborn anyway, I'll just give you an example to ponder.

In the NFL, about a third of the teams weight train for 45-60 min a day. Another third weight train for 30-45 min a day. The rest weight train for LESS THAN 30 minutes a day. These are top athletes. If you want to be as big as an NFL player, DON'T TRAIN FOR THREE GODDAMN HOURS, let alone more than one hour per day. Eat right and don't overtrain. Most common advice you'll hear.

And yes, developing social skills in college (aka getting laid and partying) is fundamental in achieving balance in your life later. It's possible to develop them and at the same time excell academically. Duh.

Yes, i am buff. let me admit it... and no, i am not unattractive. haha, just letting you people know. I like to keep myself in good health, and that's why i started this thread.

hmmmmmmm those are amazing facts. ok, i give in. I'll follow ur guy's advices.

Lifting for 3 hours is the opposite of good health. Even my good friend who is a professional body builder (and wins large competitions on a regular basis) will only lift TOPS an hour a day every other day. He might alternate groups (arms one day, legs another) but will definitely not lift every day of the week.

Also, the Pickup Artist is the most ridiculous show. Please do not assume tips from it. My girlfriends and I watch it and EVERY LAST ONE of the guys was 10 times more attractive at the beginning than they are now. And the "Pickup Master" is the human embodiment of about 15 huge turnoffs. Any guy that tries to emulate any bit of that is just setting himself up to be the joke of his school.

Lol. yea, i'm only going to lift 1 hour a day now, every other day, while fitting in aerobic exercises between.

lol, I KNOW! That show craks me up. It's funny, and hilarious at times, especially the field tests. haha,

Thats not true at all, when I did football and wrestling in HS I lifted for more than 3 hours on just 1 body part every day and can bench around 450 and power lift around 620.

There is no such thing as over working, thats a suckers excuse.

[/quote]

Its funny you call that a suckers excuse because I've had many coaches / trainers tell me that training for too long and too many times is harmful to your body. When your workout that much your doing harm to your body whether you want to believe it or not. Call me sucker I don't care I just think you should know that I've been playing football for the last 2 months for 5 hours a day.

I think you also have to consider that most NFL players only strive to maintain muscle, not build. At that point they are already at/near physical godliness. In addition, I think you're referring to building during the season. Offseason they do much more. I've seen a documentary on Donavan darius, and he says during the offseason he trains from 9:30am to 12:30 every weekday and rests the weekends. This is of course with tons of massages, ice baths, etc. In addition, most of these athletes have personal trainers who know how to push these players without breaking them.

Also consider that athletes can spend up to 30 min or 1 hour stretching. Stretching is very beneficial! Make sure you do it!

LOL weightlifting 3 hours a day... okay then, do it. your loss.

3 hours a day? talk about excess, more isn't always better, especially when it comes down to your body. perhaps you should pick up smoking so you can look cooler along with your intense 3 hour weight lifting routines?

Don't eat 5 meals per day.
Have 6, your 3 regular large meals and 3 small snacks in-between.
When I say snacks I mean fruit/almonds etc:

Since you say you've worked out before, I'm going assume you know to workout complimentary muscle groups and to not work the same group two days in a row.

And do not neglect your abs, they've just been rated the most appealing part of a mans psychic(sp?), provided they're lean. I think it was on Oprah or something.

you're asian, don't bother

I can imagine Oprah saying that abs are the most appealing part of a man's psychic :)
I always thought abs are a priority area for girls, not guys.

Seriously, the whole episode was dedicated to weight lose. Towards the end, it had a part about "How to get these kind of abs."

I actually don't like muscular abs on girls, flat - but not muscular.

Having your abs visible has a lot less to do with how many sit ups you do and much more to do with your body fat %.

Yes, I am aware.
I figure this guy has a lower body fat percentage, by the sound of things.

I'm glad you cut down from 3 hrs a session, that's all I wanted to tell you once I read your first post :)

I look so fly right now it's a joke. I'm a pimp i don't currr

I highly doubt you will see any results within a month - maybe 2-3 months, but definitely not a month.

If you're gaining muscle, get at the very least 1g/bodyweight of protein, get even more carbs, and keep fat minimal. Aim for a 40/40/20 ratio of protein/carbs/fats.

Eat 6 meals a day. Drink atleast a gallon of water daily. Find your bmr, multiply it by your activity factor, and add 500 calories to that. That's your daily caloric intake - ie I am 155 lbs, and I require 3000 clean, healthy calories to gain 1lb muscle per week.

Since you're a newb to lifting, start out with the big compound lifts - squats, bench, deadlift, pendlay rows, standing press. Do squats/bench/deads on day 1, 2 days later do squats/rows/press. Every workout increase your weight by 5 lbs. You will see gains in strength from this program.

Make sure you get a good preworkout meal consisting of protein & carbs, no fats. Post workout, make sure to get a protein shake along with around 50-60g of simple carbohydrates - 2 bananas is perfect.

Before you sleep, make sure you get a dose of casein protein (cottage cheese) , and healthy fats - ie peanut butter.

Take a multivitamin & fish oil/flaxseed/omega3 complex pill.

Good luck... it's not easy.

^ great advice.
