Trying to look my best before college starts... help!

Ok, so imma be a fresh in college this september (26th), and right now, i'm going through a rigorous workout plan so i can look my best. (imma guy incase you haven't noticed)

OK so, the year before, i worked out and weight lifted the whole school year, but once summer 07' started, i've just been a bum, hanging out with friends, gointo places/vacations, etc.... and i couldn't work out much besides the biking i did (i biked 500+ miles this summer). So i lost alot of the, eh, "luster" i had before and now i'm working out like crazy. Ok here's what i'm currently doing until the 26th... i started last week:

1.) Refrain from any high sugar stuff (icecream, candy, etc).
2.) Do not eat dessert after any meal.
3.) 1 snack per day.
4.) Eat 5 small meals a day (not the usual 3 large meals... 5 in order to speed up my metabolism).
5.) Weight lift intensely for 1-3 hours a day (right now, i'm doing an average of 3 hours).
6.) Fit in aerobic exercises (treadmill, etc) between weight lifting.
7.) Stretch out alot after waking up.
8.) Take a "good" shower everyday (by "good" i mean scrub the body real well, wash face with face soap i stole from my sister (why the hell does a middle schooler need soap for her face. She doesn't have acne or anything), moisturize hair with good shampoo), then shave, brush teeth two times a day, blah blah blah, use lotion-------- wow, what the *****, now i'm starting to sound like a girl. but hey, it's all about hygiene
8.) Go clothes shopping BEFORE University of Washington starts. (in highschool, i usually just went shopping every now and then during the school year AFTER my first impression to my new peers).

Right now, i'm focusing on really losing some of the weight i gained over the summer, and replace the lost fat with muscles. I've biked alot already this summer, so i know my stamina/endurance is hella good right now (gotta get good endurace for those long nights studying-and those long nights wit the girl ;) ;) ;)).

Do you think i can shapen up in a month. I'm really dedicated to this, so i have confidence that i will.

Are you people doing anything to shapen up for your first year in college. Cause i seriously don't want to enter college being a slob (not that i ever was, just a slob compared to last year).

before my freshman year, i didn't really do anything intensive. this year though, i ran 3 miles a day at least three days a week and did what i could with body-weight exercises (declined/asymmetric push-ups, etc). another thing i was trying for was a tan...i'm (naturally by ethnicity) brown beyond the line of my clothes, but white/yellow underneath that, so when possible i went running in a wifebeater, hung out on the beach. i'm not advocating skin cancer or anything, but getting out in the sun helps...you can still tan with sunscreen on heh.

Oh yea, i also got the tan going. :) I'm asian, so i won't get sunburned or anything ;)

All I can say is if your not attractive to begin with don't expect much when you start at college.

Do all of this for yourself, not for attention.

All you need to do is light weights, run, go to the beach a lot (with the last few days of summer). The beach REALLY helps your skin, I am a firm believer.

Don't do too much clothes shopping before school. Get about half the clothes you think you'll need before hand, and then accumulate the other half based upon what everyone else is wearing (if you care) and what the weather is actually like.

haha, entity, no i'm not unattractive (or am i. oh god. i'm so confused. please help me ;)).

I'm 50-50 right now, half of what i'm doing is for me, my self-confidence, my health, and my well being. And the other half are for the cute asian college chicks :) (i broke up last year, and i was truly too busy for a girl since then, but now i'm ready for another relationship).

Oh, and my favorite hobby is biking, so i'm down with that already.

Haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you guys seen VH1 "The Pickup Artist" on T.V yet. Haha, it's so hilarious. Just incase you haven't seen it yet, these master pickup artists gather 8 of the nerdiest and socially-awkward guys they can find, and try to turn them into master pickup artists. So ridiculous. But i have to disagree with you Entity. Cause when you said "if ur not attractive in the first place, don't expect alot of change in the beggining of sku"... haha, you should have seen the show. They come into the place being total geeks... you know huge glasses, geeky walk and posture, don't know how to approach chix, and almost all being virgins(how can you be 25 and still be a virgin..... ha, there was one guy who was 45 and still a virgin. so much for "the 40-year-old virgin"). In just 4 episodes, they're up to the point where they can have a good conversation wit some fine chix in the club (one guy got lucky though). So yea, just making a point accross. There's still hope for any of you geeks out there.

^^^Love that show, haha. That Mystery guy isn't very attractive at first sight, but he does seem like someone you'd want to figure out.

I'm voting for the chubby Joe...he's so cute!

sounds like something you want to go through?

....... ok, either that was supposed to be a harsh comment or it was supposed to be humorous and sarcastic???? If it was supposed to be harsh, haha, then **** you. If it was supposed to be sarcastic, then "haha".

You're asian, don't bother.

Bassmaster, I think you can shapen up in a month. Actually, I lost 10 pounds this month working out 45 minutes a day doing a mix of cardio and weights. I tried to watch what I eat, but I still ate sweets every now and then. But I did drink a lot of water. So if you follow your regimen, I'm sure you'll see results. Good luck!!

Lifting for 3 hours a day is only going to strain your muscles, not build them. If you're going to work out that much I suggest doing it every other day for 3 hours each, otherwise you might overwork them.

I'm not going to lie to you...my sister goes to UW (rising junior) and NO ONE cares about appearance..you'll probably be one of the first.

mg1275

Thats not true at all, when I did football and wrestling in HS I lifted for more than 3 hours on just 1 body part every day and can bench around 450 and power lift around 620.

There is no such thing as over working, thats a suckers excuse.

i agree and disagree. The best workouts last 45mins to an hour at most. Even the ginormous bodybuilders work out this way (though atleast twice a day...they're crazy). 3 hours is way too much and you are just breaking down the muscle so much that it wont recover for the next workout. YOu want to build muscle dont you? Or just lose weight? Cuz you'll be looking gaunt if you keep going this way. Keep it to 45 mins to 1 hour with 1 min of rest in between sets. For cardio, do interval training. Like on the treadmill, sprint on 10 for a min, then do 3 for min, then 10 again for like 5 intervals. You'll lose fat and build muscle. Also, since you seem like you're serious about this, eat as much protein as possible. I mean alot. The best is 1g per lb of bodyweight but i dont think you need that much. Idk how much weigh, but if you are like 160-170, go for 120-130 grams of protein a day. PM me if you got questions. I like helping people transform themselves into beasts :) 5 meals is good though, keep that up. just try to get some sort of protein in each meal.

3 hours a day won't overwork your muscles if you've conditioned yourself for that type of activity. Also, make sure to eat plenty of protein with a routine like that. The only other thing I would stress is make sure you drink plenty of water and try getting a massage or two followed by a long sauna visit with detoxifying teas. You'll feel like a million bucks once you sweat out all the bad stuff.

Your optimistic disposition will turn to one of utter bitterness once you realize that college isn't about getting laid and partying. This is the foundation for your future.

Yea, it's not like straight 3 hours becuase every hour, i take like a 10 minute break so yea. I'm drinking alot of water cause the way i see it, water is like the drain-o for the human body.

Well, for me, 3 hours is perfect. The next day, i'm always energized and i WANT to do more.

lol @ CC kids giving fitness and weightlifting advice.

Lifting 3 hours a day is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Consider this...

Did you know that every time you lift you're essentially ripping your muscles? You need 24 hours worth of rest minimum in order for your muscles to recuperate. Ten minute breaks? Yeah, good luck dealing with the adverse side effects when you're in your thirties.

Oh, and if you're hurt looking, all those points you made really won't matter.
