Tufts Class of 2019 RD Applicants

Accepted from the central time zone!

Never visited, interviewed (or requested), called, or anything. Just sent in the application.

@lolcho123 and @redpoodles and others… Thanks! I made a deal NOT to ever check decisions and to leave it to my child… The email just sounded kinda negative (and after a slew or waitlists/rejections),my bloodpressure is thru the roof. I’ll wait a few more hours! (and redpoodles: THANK YOU for your honest/kind answer!!)

@Marisa58 hey I remember you from the UChicago thread! I’m sorry about the waitlist, I’ve seen several of your posts and you seem like the coolest person to talk to. You’ll go somewhere awesome!

Accepted! 2290 SAT, 3.8 GPA. Just waiting for FA now…

Accepted! 2190 SAT, 34 ACT, 98.9 GPA (my school doesn’t convert to the 4.0 scale). I visited twice, sat in on a class and had an interview. dkjfghaskjdkfgh I’m so happy, Tufts was my first choice… not even worried about Ivy day anymore

@anothermom2015 no problem. My D texted it to me at 3:01 and I came home and looked at it myself. Every family is different. Looks like she’s going to Wellesley!

@dreamchaser123 Hey, I remember you also! And that’s alright, it’s better than being rejected (I actually just found out I was waitlisted at Georgetown, so make that four waitlists).

And thank you so much! You seem like a cool person as well. Do you know where you’re going?

Accepted!!! Awwww yissss

@GSikka‌

I am not incorrect. The Tufts Class of 2015 had 90% of its accepted students in the top 10% of their high school graduating class. 3,746 students were accepted. This means that 374 students were NOT in the top 10% of their class. Out of a pool of 17,131 total applicants, one had an effectively 2.2% chance of getting in (at least in 2015) if they were not in the top 10% of their high school classes.

I am very happy that you were able to get in. But your single anecdote does not throw away heaps of statistics in the trash.

For future applicants: Do not expect to get into any selective university with +85% of the accepted students in the top 10% of their high school classes. A huge congrats if you do–but the most selective universities MUST maintain a high ranking on USNews where class rank plays a factor.

Good luck to those awaiting decisions, and congratulations to all of those who were accepted!

I do at least appreciate Tufts being very up-front in their rejection. At least at Tufts I was “denied”, instead of other schools that were “unable to offer me a place” or “did not have enough room in their class”.

hey guys I made a decision thread

Don’t let anyone crush your dreams! I got in with a 29 ACT and a 3.75 GPA. Mind you, I did apply ED and I got deferred, but I GOT IN!

@Marisa58 Thanks! I don’t know yet. I hear back from the Ivies tomorrow, but so far I’ve been waitlisted at Stanford, Bowdoin, and Tulane, accepted to USC and Tufts, along with a few state schools. It all depends on financial aid.

One day we might meet on a campus somewhere, lol. Good luck!

I was accepted! Kind of a shock, though. I had a Sat scores of 670 for Math II and 580 for Chem II. ACT 32, GPA 4.0 on a 4.3 scale. Don’t ever give up on your dreams! You are so much more than a test score!

My son got rejected, and I think Tufts made the right decision. His stats: SAT 2400 in one sitting, straight As throughout high school, AP all 5s. He got accepted into Dartmouth (likely), Duke, Rice, Georgetown and a couple safeties. Deferred by Harvard, rejected by MIT and Stanford. Waiting for a few other ivies tomorrow.

@Ctesiphon that 10% stat is for kids that are ranked. Most prep schools do not rank their students.

Sort of expected, but D rejected with 2190 and 3.7 UW. Luckily many good choices.

Pseudo-class ranks are constructed for students from high schools that do not rank. This is done simply so they can place these applicants in context with other students from the high school (ie. whether or not it is easy to get a 4.0).

Accepted. Tufts was definitely a reach for me.
GPA: 89.12 (horrible freshman year, but second semester Sophomore year to now my gpa has always been between 90 and 94).
SAT: 1980.
I’m an independent student. Other than that, my essays were pretty on point.

Tufts didn’t want me, but I can’t say I’m disappointed. I’ve already been accepted to my top choice (Duke), and can’t wait to call myself a Blue Devil. Congrats to those who were accepted! To those who were not, more doors will open!

Hey guys how do we check our admissions status?
